What a joke. This woman has been a horrible secretary of state, and it was mere months ago that Bush fans were clamouring for her to run for prez. I don't think she could run for dog catcher now

Rice's Star Fading: Newspapers Wouldn't Even Print Op-Ed By Secretary Of State

I remember the heady days for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

About 2 1/2 years ago, when she was new in office, I accompanied her on her first trip around the world, with stops in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, South Korea, Japan and China. Crowds gathered to see her limousine drive past; people whistled, waved and cheered. Interviewers routinely asked her whether she was planning to run for president. One TV reporter in India told her she was "arguably the most powerful woman in the world." She chuckled but did not exactly agree -- or disagree.

How things change.

A few months ago, she decided to write an opinion piece about Lebanon. She enlisted John Chambers, chief executive officer of Cisco Systems as a co-author, and they wrote about public/private partnerships and how they might be of use in rebuilding Lebanon after last summer's war. No one would publish it.

Think about that. Every one of the major newspapers approached refused to publish an essay by the secretary of state. Price Floyd, who was the State Department's director of media affairs until recently, recalls that it was sent to the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and perhaps other papers before the department finally tried a foreign publication, the Financial Times of London, which also turned it down.

As a last-ditch strategy, the State Department briefly considered translating the article into Arabic and trying a Lebanese paper. But finally they just gave up. "I kept hearing the same thing: 'There's no news in this.' " Floyd said. The piece, he said, was littered with glowing references to President Bush's wise leadership. "It read like a campaign document."

I forgot about the big Condi for President thing. They thought she was the only one of the bunch not tainted by Iraq. Which, I could never figure that out anyway.

But no, she's going nowhere. Back to Chevron maybe.

Exactly right and well said. Condi Rice is just supporting her guy. Not the country, but her guy. She's as bad as the rest of them with empty rhetoric about the war on terror. These neocons are destroying the war on terror and only making the terrorists stronger with their idiotic policies.

I do not see how any rational person can deny that our invading Iraq has strengthened the terror effort and recruitment.

Condoleeza Rice was a great star in 2005, whenever Bush wasn't exactly considered insane and was riding a bit off of his re-election surge. But later in the game it became all about the mavericks (which is, ironically enough, while John McCain isn't doing half as good as expected). Condoleeza was really only even considered cause she was a women, black, and Republican, and that is a goddam rare combination. But she's just a Bush lackey. People consider her more of the same, and that's terrible whenever Bush is "the same". I mean, it's pretty sad situation. NO ONE even bothers to defend Bush anymore. Not even Republicans, not even conservatives, even neo-conservatives are starting to flee, for God's sake. I don't even think I can remember a president going so far down the tube in unpopularity. He's like a seperate figure from the rest of the US that everyone just wants to get rid of as soon as damn possible. The people that approve of him are only doing it moderately, and just because they feel everyone else is being "too harsh" on him.

Even after this, she could've stole even 5% of the vote if she would've just jumped in early enough - but now all of the competitors have established themselves, and there's just no room for her. She just would'nt be taken very seriously.

Condoleeza Rice rose as a star in 2005, amid Bush's re-election surge. Later overshadowed by the mavericks, her role seemed tokenistic due to her demographics. She's perceived as a Bush lackey, amid his plummeting popularity, leaving even conservatives disenchanted. HP printer cartridges.

Professional level figure skater, concert pianist , golfer, and multi-discipline professor (including political science) at Stanford.

Beats your resume all to hell. Biden's, too.

Professional level figure skater

Rice did a bit of amateur figure skating, but was not super successful at it. Professional figure skating is a tiny field for people who have done insanely well at amateur figure skating.

Not Rice!!!

Rice was a leading light among Neo-Cons... But Republicans are desperate to forget their background of being Neo-Cons.

Is she as good as trump? Didn't a trump supporter recently claim that trump easily beat two of the best golfers ever, and is the best golfer ever to exist? I mean, just look at his athletic body:palm::rolleyes:

Rice was a college professor who studied Soviet military build ups, and got it wrong. trump is a real estate promoter, who calls himself honest don, and is two steps down from a used car salesman.
