Responsible Gun Owner Dad Takes Kids Shooting In Park Filled With Other Kids!

I wasn't sure there was not much description of the toy.

That is ok...and is basically my beef with the story. It leads to mischaracterization of the type of gun in question especially to those who may not know as much about guns...which is much of the population. The gun in the picture was an Airsoft or an Airsoft type of gun. The story that was linked called it a pellet gun. While these types of guns are called pellet guns they need to be distinguished from actual pellet guns like the ones in your links. Air propelled BB/pellet guns and CO2 type BB/pellet guns shoot steel BB's or lead pellets and are not toys ... Airsoft type "pellet" guns shoot plastic pellets and are indeed toys. To me it is a huge deal that this differ e is know. Again, I appreciate your efforts to investigate.

Okay, So, the story has the details wrong and it was not an illegal bb gun. I guess, having never bought a pellet gun for my children, I don't see how a projectile firing gun could be safe to point at a two year old.

Ralphie, you'll shoot your eyes out.

So, the problem with the gun was it had no indication of it being a toy and then the guy got attitude or the cop did and the guy was arrested.

I guess I'm just a Fudd.

Nah Rana. I am of the opinion that no one should ever buy their kids any type of projectile firing gun ... even a dart gun ... if they aren't going to teach proper gun safety. Far too many parents buy their kids a BB gun (thinking it's "just a toy") and just turn them lose without any instruction/training. Not good. You are no " Fudd" for not buying your kids a projectile firing gun. Nor is it "safe" to point such a gun as the one in the story at anyone. Ralphie's mom was right. I'm just not sure it should be an arrest able offense. But then I don't know how much attitude the guy exhibited when confronted by the cops either.

Here is your word for the day: Glock

This. This is the part that I agree with my more liberal posters on. Just because the gun was plastic doesn't mean that it couldn't be a "real" gun. People have been shot by cops having guns like this. I had a Grendel 22 mag with a 30 round clip (illegal under Clinton's "assault" weapons ban) that didn't look much different from the gun pictured except mine was black. This is why the dad wasn't exhibiting much grey matter by doing what he did.

In the beginning I had sympathy for the guy. Yea, he did a REALLY stupid thing, but doesn't deserve to face 7 years. But the fact he was charged with resisting arrest and then I read this article. It tells me he made his own bed.

What really pisses me off is some people are going after the parents who were terrorized. They did NOTHING wrong. ALL the blame goes to the guy who brought a gun to a playground.

Pellet gun dad: Anyone upset by his park target shooting is ‘overreacting’

Jack Pawlowski downplays the target practice. Says parents who complained are 'paranoid.'

A Queens dad who took his young kids for target practice with a pellet gun at a nearby park said petrified parents nearby were merely overreacting.

Jack Pawlowski was with his 3-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter in Astoria’s Ditmars Park Tuesday afternoon when he pulled out the plastic piece, which resembled a .38-caliber pistol, and began firing.

Pawlowski then passed the pistol to his daughter, who rode around on her bicycle and aimed it at a pair of 2-year-olds, witnesses said.

But Pawlowski dismissed the story as just “concerned parents” making something out of nothing.

“There’s a lot going on in the world — killing kids, stuff like that,” Pawlowski told the Daily News on Wednesday. “Maybe they’re a little paranoid.”

The haughty dad insisted there was no harm in the gunplay.

This guy really is an IDIOT.

You keep saying it is a airsoft. Where do you get that from? The gun was bought at a street fair in Poland.

I have looked at everything that I can find trying to determine the type of gun. The still picture (I think posted by Howey) looks like an Airsoft or Airsoft type of gun. Then I finally found the video footage and it clearly shows this to be the case. If you'll notice there were two guns in the video, the one laying down has the tell-tell orange tip while the one being held has a black tip. Like I said the other day, I confiscated one of these from a student a couple of weeks ago.

And here's a lesson for you.

Now, which one is the Glock?

And your word for the day: polymer

Parents who take their kids to a playground are not and SHOULD NOT be required to be authorities on weapon identification and manufacturing materials.

They were confronted with what looks like a real gun pointed at their kids.

WHY is that part so hard for you gun lickers to comprehend?

You didn't answer the question, nor did you complete the homework assignment.

Major fail, on your part. :)

I don't have to answer your question...why? Because it is IRRELEVANT. The gun looked REAL. Parents weren't handed the gun for examination. There were NO markings that would identify it as a toy.

So you are saying that mm and howey are correct in their combined accusation that I am a paedophile?
Then my account gets hacked, then my address posted?
And some details?

Ok.

Fine.
I'm still not a paedophile.
Can you prove your accusation?

What is wrong with you? It isn't that frickin' hard to simply avoid talking about it. Nobody has called you one and we're a bit sick of you.
