This is not to say that another aspect of a responsible government is to regulate...but NOT interfere in a capitalistic system. Unions and their un-checked greed are a large reason why NAFTA and globalization have become a seeming unstoppable genie escaped from the proverbial bottle.

As I said and said clearly, protectionism HAS NOT been debunked. Protectionism is used to create policy in every fucking successful government. The kinds of protectionism used depends on the health and needs of the country. Governments often have to reevaluate the protectionist policies that impact economic concerns. We find ourselves in just such a time of reevaluation!

Unions began with good intentions of protectionism for the worker. They have however filled a power vacuume that was created by government intereference of the private sector...I stated that they, unions, need to be regulated against their own greed because of this power vacuume. Unions un-checked have prevented capital growth in industries, caused jobs to be shipped overseas and have in some cases destroyed companies and jobs.
