Residents In More Than A Dozen States Petition White House To Secede From United Stat

That sometimes other concerns can outweigh the democratic process, such as a greater need to protect the rights of minorities and freedoms in general? No, I don't disagree with that. However, for general laws and governance, democracy is obviously our guiding principle. I honestly feel that conservatives have become so reflexive about the "tyranny of the majority" thing that they just sound it off anytime democracy is given any credence at all as a legitimate governing principle by anyone, even when it's not conflicting with said greater principles.
'tyranny of the majority' was a popular battle cry during the reign of BushII, so what's changed now?

There is a time when it becomes apparent that you're just using a phrase like that, not in the defense of legitimate liberties, but against any and all democratic decisions that happen to conflict with your ideology. And that's dangerous, that is the more serious threat to our republic than any paranoid fears about encroaching government. Even if it doesn't eventually devolve into an excuse for an undemocratic seizure of power among future leaders and a permanent end to the republic, overuse of the term desensitizes people to it. Libertarians are the boys who cry "tyranny!" Eventually, no one is going to believe you anymore.
and like a typical prole, you fall right in to the trap of attacking Libertarianism when faced with your hypocrisy. congrats.

Taxes are rising, the government is printing money in an economic depression, spending a trillion dollars a year more than it takes in, and there is no sustainability of the entitlements promised, and fools like Christie say there is no tyranny. :nono:

Wow what a story...

U.S. allows Arizona and Texas to secede, Mexico invades!

The combined armies of Az and Tx were no match for the Mexican military aided by Chinese and other unnamed backers just minutes after the U.S. declared it would not aid these 2 countries with military forces....

Busting up the country so it's pieces can be run like southern plantations is better?

Ok, so please explain how 50 small countries, each one grubbing for itself, is better than a combination of them working together.

This question was settled long ago and is bullshit.

Working together is a great idea but that's not what has been happening for the last 100 or so years. Here's one possibility of what will likely happen:

...I'm convinced that the dollar is going to be worthless and the fed will simply go bankrupt. When that happens all of these federal programs that you liberals love will disappear, and a skeleton government will be in place, hopefully providing a military and not much else. The states will issue their own currency and, just like the feds, the libtard states that are providing freebies will go bankrupt themselves.

It's a bunch of silliness, there is zero possibility you'd find even a majority of people in any of those states willing to secede. Basically they are taking advantage of the "if you get 25,000 signatures the WH will make an official response" thing...

It is silly. Much easier to cordon off the infected areas, or consolidate the 'tards to a few areas around the perimeter...

There's no tyranny and furthermore, how well did secession work the first time it happened?

how do you KNOW there is no tyranny? you don't think forcing a group of people to do something is tyranny? do you also believe it's morally and ethically sound to prevent a state from deciding it's own direction and path even if it's against an unconstitutional federal mandate?

Imagine this...

ATTENTION: Kidnapping Gangs, Drug Cartels, and Guerrilla Armies of South America.

Texas is no longer under the protection of the United States.

Have at it....

All Texans fleeing your new independent state, you must apply for a Visa to enter the U.S. We can't just let anyone in.
