I am an Australian so I doubt I have the same kind of clear insight into the workings of national US politics that a sane, intelligent, mature, native American citizen would possess. Nevertheless, I do my best to try and gain a good understand your politics because it has a very direct impact on Australian affairs - our economy; our educational institutions, our foreign affairs policy, our legal institutions and so on. In short, if America, as we have known it , goes down the gurgler, then so do we - about 2 seconds later.

Anyway, what has been puzzling me - (and stressing me out) - is why the Democrats were not absolutely wiped out by the so-called "Red Tidal Wave" that many US pundits were predicting for the recent mid-terms? I thought that would definitely be what happened in those elections as well. Basically because the Biden administration has been the most incompetent, bat-shit crazy and destructive US government in the entire political history of the republic. (And it managed to achieve this status in only 22 months !)

I don't understand why they were given a total shellacking in the mid-terms. I cannot work it out.

Can someone who is not an extremist political nut-job please tell me why this didn't happen ?

Stupidity. Hubris. Trump.

Any other stupid questions, mate?

I SAID I wanted input from sane, intelligent non rat-bag Americans. That disqualifies you, because you are a well-known, Democrat dick-head.

Well there are a number of reasons it didn't happen but mostly it didnt happen because the leftists have spent decades through the education system turning students into brain dead govt teat suckling morons. They have taught people they can't decide anything for themselves and must rely on "experts". Guess who the experts are?

On top of that it's takes some states like Arizona more than a week to count ballots. No room for manipulation there right? But remember people think that's normal in 2022, when we have computers, because the "experts" told them so.

It appears that the confluence of the MSM purveying what might be called "The Big Lie" day after day for months, combined with the use of an election season weeks long, and mail-in ballots has given the Left and Democrats the means to get the pathetic, stupid, uncaring, and lazy to vote based on their propaganda.

Do most average Americans get their news from MSM (CNN, MSNBC, etc;?)

The pathetic, stupid, uncaring, and lazy among us are citizens who all have the right to cast a ballot.

Haw, haw.......................................haw.

I know, but that's not what concerns me. I would have thought the Republicans came out of the Mid-Terms with a MUCH bigger majority in the House given the destructive/incompetent disaster that Biden's administration had been. And what about the Senate?

They focused their campaign on some unpopular platforms. The youth vote is pro-environmental regulations and pro-choice. The reds ran against those things. They also rejected election deniers. This was self-inflicted by people who think they are going to dictate policy.

That's one reason I think that permission to vote in America should be made legally conditional on a range of criteria, like a score on a standardized, official IQ test of at least 100 points; or a satifactory score on a standard Cognitive Function test individuals with diagnosed chronic psychiatric disorder like hebephrenic schizophrenia, drug addiction, dementia, delusional disorders, antisocial personality disorders, perverts listed on sexual offence registers; LGBTQI individual (as they are also anti-social psychiatric cases) etc; should be formally prohibited from voting; long-term Wefare dependents ditto; individuals with extensive crimial rap sheets also banned; known members of violent, extremist political/vigilante organizations also banned; Also registered members of communist Marxist (socialist) political parties like, the CPUSA, the BLM Inc. organisation, and the like, are to be declared ineligible to vote; Islamists, also, are to be officially declared unable to vote, and so on.

Lying on a keyboard is just as wrong as lying in real life.

While no denier of Dashhund's douchebaggery, the internet isn't a real place. I don't ever like to give myself up to a created character because I'm impressed as hell with the authentic me__BUT--
the internet is a place pretty much designed for doing just that. That's why I find it incredible that people believe what they see on social media. Blogs are bad enough. And message board forums like this? Please.

Easy to understand, “because the Biden administration has NOT been the most incompetent, bat-shit crazy and destructive US government in the entire political history of the republic,” quite the contrary, the election proved it

Being Australian, I think you must have ODed on too much Murdoch media, seems you actually swallowed it

Most of this has to do with the metrics many pundants were using to justify their prognostications.

Pollsters have been polling for what they call a generic R v D favorability. And this past cycle it was going against the norm and saying that the favorability had swung from the usual D to R.

The only problem is that this poll has NEVER signaled anything in terms of actual elections. NEVER.

I think D's like it so much because it almost always favors them.

As always what matters is WHO the candidate is, whether or not they are incumbent and any accumulated dirt that can be found/manufactured about them.

Walker in GA and OZ (not an AUS) were weak candidates.

And as for NV and AZ, well, those were most likely 2020'ed.

And over all, the GOP would have done better to follow the Virginia model that Youngkin used. Oh well.

But it could be worse. Biden will continue to go down with the economic ship as the next two years will be horrible.
