Apparently even in the 21st century, a horndog of a man is considered by some to be a stud. A woman taking multiple lovers is still a slut. It's getting better though. Younger guys aren't as apt to believe that as their elders.

Yes... but so? Roe v Wade was settled on the privacy issue as well as on viability. You have the right to control your own body, do you not? You can put into it whatever substances you choose, whether they're healthy for you or not. You can have sex whenever you like, assuming you have a willing partner. It is not unreasonable for women to demand the same.

i disagree on this. we live in a democracy. People are allowed to vote. You could say people don't have a moral right to vote, but clearly they have the actual right to vote on these issues. We have people that aren't as direcrtly vested in something vote all the time on things in america. Poor people are allowed to vote what we do with this countries money, even when they don't pay any taxes. People vote to go to war even if they don't fight in one. Men get to vote on abortion and whether it's allowed.

No, men -- and women -- don't get to vote on abortion. The best that can be done is voting for candidates that support your chosen opinion.

I'm surprised that you are taking the path here that you are. You obviously like the fact that weed is legal in your state -- even though plenty of other ppl in your state probably disagree. Your vaping doesn't affect them in the least, unless you're blowing it in their faces. So it is none of their damn business what you do in the privacy of your home. And it's none of your damn business if your pregnant neighbor gets an abortion, nor does that affect you in any way.
 
I enjoyed reading that OP. I believe your writing style has improved since I last frequented the board.

I have minor disagreements, but the overall sentiment is hard to argue.

and I disagree it doesn't affect other people. It's like saying slavery doesn't affect someone that doens't own slaves. It's a silly argument. Pro lifers believe it is an actual baby. They are wrong, but their logic isn't faulty.

Here’s the hard cold logic on abortion. Either extreme of the abortion issue, that is to say, abortion for no reason what so ever and abortion for any reason what so ever are both immoral and unethical.

If a woman is told by a physician with 100% certainty that if she completes her term if pregnancy than both her and the baby will die, not permitting her an abortion would be both immoral and unethical.

Conversely if a healthy woman with a healthy 8 month fetus decides to have an abortion because it’s summer and she’d look better in a bikini, that to would be immoral and unethical.

So where is the region in the grey area in between where abortion is morally and ethically permissible and when is it impermissible and who decides?

Our courts have decided that this is a constitutionally protected privacy right between a woman, her conscience, within limited circumstances.

Now here’s the part where you can have a laugh. The same guys who are calling women baby killers, if they were the ones who bore children and you told those men they couldn’t have an abortion they would be like “Fuck you! It’s my body and I’ll do with it what I god damned well want.

Good post, Mott. Pretty much where I'm at on it.

It's a murkier issue than the extreme elements of each side will allot for. Roe is likely as good a compromise as we can get on it.

Late-term abortions are exceedingly rare, and are nearly always performed because either the fetus is not viable or the mother's health is in danger. Using that "suck the brains out of a living child" argument is as stupid as "Democrats all favor open borders." Both are hyperbolic and frankly, are lies.

You (group you) have absolutely zero right, interest, or reason to insert yourself into the deeply private and personal decision to end a pregnancy. Despite what some forced-birthers would have you believe, it is not as simple as "This mole on my arm is embarrassing so I'm going to have it removed."
