It's funny because it's a distraction. The Republicans are throwing red meat which the Democrats will happily gorge themselves upon in a feast of self-righteousness. It's a win-win since both parties now have an excuse not to address the main problem in the US that covers drugs, guns, most murders and suicides: better mental health screening, care and the legislation to make it work.

People who know me know I am not for banning any firearm. But idgits like this dude do nothing but give the left more ammunition to use when persuading people on the fence who they oughtta be voting for.
Besides the fact that I can think of dozens of firearms besides the AR to recognize as a “national firearm,” this type of “in your face legislation” does nothing but drive the wedge deeper and alienate those described in the previous paragraph.

Hard to say, I cast my own bullets and have about 500+ rounds loaded already. I haven't had to load any for years. Plus the hundreds of rounds of ball ammo from the government.
I'm against banning any firearm too. Yes, it's idiots who pay enough attention to the media to use what they plaster (the AR-15) on their news programs 24/7. Now, if parents taught their kids what we were taught...
Yep, Browning also comes to mind as a "national firearm," but I agree, we don't need a "national firearm" because the left would plaster it all over the airways and a new "preferred firearm" would be used in shootings.
