Republicans to Boehner: Stick it up your ass!

No it's not. I'm willing to make a sacrifice to settle our debt issue, get spending in check, reduce the size of our military, modernize entitlements, etc, etc. In the short term going over the fiscal cliff has short term fiscal consequences that will hurt many of the short term but benefit them in the long term. Politically though it will have calamitous consequences for Republicans as most of the public will blame them. Bye Bye tea baggers.

So what? As long as your taxes go, I don't care. You should be cheering. Your taxes go up. Mine do not. I am thrilled

I think a lot of conservatives need to read what George Washington and Dwight Eisenhower has to say about standing armies and the military industrial complex. Hopefully it won't excape their notice that they were two of the greatest Military leaders in our nations history.

It is so brave of you to offer up cuts in defense. I know what a tremendous sacrifice that must be for you given what a neocon you are

Count on "I Hate America" to say something stupid. Dude. We spend twice as much as the rest of the world combined on our military. With one war over and a second winding down, paid for irresponsibly by Republican borrowing, we no longer have justification for these types of expenditures. How many fucking times do we need to be able to blow up the world in order to feel secure? The military isn't supposed to be a jobs program and.....as I said.....you need to read Washington and Eisenhower on the threat militarism poses to a democratic republic. You might be suprized.....I know you cons don't read much.....but these two guys were pretty smart.

I was listening to local left-leaning talk radio guy who said Nancy Pelosi was on board with Boehner on the "Plan B" or raise taxes on those making above $1 million/yr. This article said there would be unanimous opposition from Democrats. Anyone know if Pelosi changed her position or did our local radio guy just have it wrong?

I've been listening to Morning Joe this morning. Joe Scarborough, who is a conservative Republican, has just declared the GOP shattered. It will soon be out of power. Boehner's plan B stunt has now labeled the GOP as the party that will let our economy go over the cliff to protect millionaires. Even business leaders are behind the President.

No I actually used "net sum gain" when I first typed it, then I looked it up to make sure I used the right phrase. The point is still intact, but you've abandoned my point in favor of a myopic discussion on the proper use of a phrase. Whenever you raise taxes on everyone, it has no positive effect on economic prosperity. When you and everyone else wake up on Jan 1, and have to pay an extra $5 for the privilege to be an American, it doesn't do a thing for us economically. The government has more money, they spend more money, we pay more money. Zero-sum game.

The point on top of your head remains intact.

A net sum gain is a different type of transaction and would indicate that you think the people gain some value in the taxing transaction. Weird. A zero sum game implies you believe that the government spends as efficiently as do the people in satisfying the wants and needs of the people. Either way, you support big government.

You seem to be under the impression that the point of the tax code is to create imbalance between various classes and this somehow creates prosperity. So you seem to think a good policy would be to help the rich and/or hinder the poor.

I am trying to understand your point as it is usually worth quite a few laughs.

What about Joe Scarborough makes him a conservative? Other than him proclaiming every five seconds that he is. But, what are his views that make you think he is conservative?

Personally, I think Joey Scarborough is precisely what is wrong with the GOP. He curries favor with his left wing masses. It is ironic that he suddenly left Congress after the death of a staffer. My guess is that he trashes conservatives in exchange for the left ignoring his scandals like cheating on his wife while in office.

Just saying

We also defend the rest of the world.

Leave to you to throw out the typical libtardiot talking points. I don't much care what we spend relative to other countries. It only matters what we spend relative to OUR budget. You could cut out the entire defense budget and we still run deficits. That isn't to say that there isn't money that can be cut out of defense. If I had my way, we would pull out of Iraq, Afghanistan, and every other country we have trooops. So save your straw men arguments for someone else. My comment highlighted the fact that the only cuts you libtards offer up are in defense when anyone who remotely pays attention knows that defense is not even close to a driver of our debt which is why you only speak of it in relation to other countries and not other spending.

This will likely be the Republicans legacy from this experience: a group of out-of-touch lunatics who were willing to send the rest of America over a cliff to protect a few % points in tax money for their wealthiest friends.

Great move.

That is not what the public says, but you right wing zealots are incapable of learning, moderating or evolving. You have minds that are rotted out and filled with dogma, doctrinaire and absolutism.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/are-the-republicans-too-extreme-most-americans-think-so-poll-finds-but-is-that-the-full-story/

While many Tea Party activists have become increasingly disillusioned with Republicans for being allegedly willing to sell out their principles, Americans at large don’t appear to agree on the need for a harder line from Republicans. In fact, if a new poll from CNN is accurate (more on that later), the country may want Republicans to back down even more.

The poll, taken between December 16 and 18, shows some alarming statistics for Republicans, especially those concerned about negotiations over the fiscal cliff. From CNN’s writeup:

According to the survey, 53% say the GOP should compromise more, with 41% saying the Democratic Party should give up more of the proposals it supports to develop bipartisan solutions.[...]

Fifty-three percent of those surveyed say they view the policies of the GOP as too extreme, up 17 points from two years ago. Only 37% say they view the polices of the Democratic Party as too extreme.

Wasn't he elected in November of 1992?

What the fuck is your problem?

Does your old lady have to whop you in the head with a 2x4 every day or so, to get you back 'right' again?

what? are you claiming he was president in 1992? or does your cat need to whop you over the head with a 6X4 every day?

Notice who the business leaders are. Large corporate business ownwers. Raising individual tax rates doesn't affect their business. It does affect small businesses.

This whole discussion about the fiscal cliff blows my fucking mind wide open. Remember, it was enacted to get the deficit under control because the deficit was perceived by some (or so they said) to be the problem with the ailing economy. And now everyone suddenly understands that austerity budgeting, which is what the fiscal cliff is, will actually harm the economy and that contractionary policies are contractionary. Mind officially blown.

Also, too, no one cares about the deficit, particularly the people that claim to care about it the most. They care about taxes, specifically, low taxes for rich people.

This is a massive failure for the Republicans who look like bumbling idiots with no plan. The VAST majority of Americans support ending the current situation which is the lowest tax rate for the rich in the history of American income tax. Its not a mistake that it coinsides with one of the worst economy 's of American History.

The Republicna party is the weakest its been in my lifetime, and I was alive when Nixon resigned.

Hmmm. It seems more and more like a suicide mission.

I cant belive the Republican party is still digging itself in deeper, when you find yourself in a hole, first thing is to stop digging.

Well let them foot the fucking bill then! I mean Jesus fuck you're a moron. Defense and medicare/medicaid are to two largest drivers in our debt period. Just another example of your not knowing what the fuck you're talking about.

I always said that the Republicans are not dead, they will recover. For the first time today, I am wondering if I am wrong? Will they fall appart and morph into two seperate parties?

Only if your net profits are over $400,000/year. Trust me. It won't have a single fucking thing to do with hiring. I don't know a single busines, large or small, that hires or makes capital purchases based on tax rates.
