Republicans show no class!

/shrugs....I don't see much difference between doing it there or doing it on the national news....

The difference is a matter of respect.

It is the difference between a worthless display of disrepect for the office and performing your duties as a legislator.

One is acceptable and one is not.

'You lie': Republican Joe Wilson's outburst at Obama health speech

A Republican congressman is under fire for shouting "You lie" during Barack Obama's speech to Congress on healthcare reform.

In an extraordinary breach of political protocol, Joe Wilson, a Republican representative for South Carolina, shouted at Obama as the president told the joint sitting that his plan for a universal healthcare system would not cover illegal immigrants.

Obama looked in the direction of the shout, said "It's not true" and went on with his speech. But the outburst stunned both Democrats and Republicans and drew condemnation from the public. Republicans froze, with several looking in Wilson's direction.

Wilson later tried to call Obama to apologise in person but ended up speaking to the White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel.

The congressman "expressed his apologies", Wilson's office said.

By that time, Wilson's website had crashed and he had been fiercely criticised on Twitter for breaching protocol and good manners.

"This evening I let my emotions get the best of me," Wilson said. "While I disagree with the president's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility."

Democrats said his outburst showed a lack of respect for the office of the presidency and was reminiscent of Republican activists' heckling at recent public forums to discuss the president's healthcare reforms.

John McCain, Obama's Republican rival for the presidency, said Wilson's behaviour was "totally disrespectful". The Arizona senator told CNN: "There is no place for it in that setting, or any other, and he should apologise for it immediately."

The House majority leader, Steny Hoyer, said Wilson's outburst was "a shameful act" and he would work with Republicans in deciding whether to punish him.

"I have never in my 29 years heard an outburst of that nature with reference to a president of the United States speaking as a guest of the House and Senate."

The shout heard round the world .. correctly identifies republicans as the crazies they truly are.

Could the hapless Republican Party sink any lower?

I personally don't give a crap about this, lets not take our eyes off the ball and what the real problems are..the Progressives are trying a hostile take over of our health care system..

the only bad thing about Joe comment is the left can now use it for a distraction..

i love how dems get their panties in a twist if someone generalizes about them or blames their whole party for the actions of one or a few.....yet not a single dem tells jarod he is a moron for basically saying "all" republicans for the actions of one repub.....

while i think this lacked decorum.....the dems certaintly have showed bush the same amount of "class" in the past....you know....booing him, NOT during a solely political speech about something he was trying to pass.....but during the state of the union....

obama's speech, while on the floor.....was nothing more than a campaign speech....

another tool stupidly trying to attribute this to teh entire republican party....BAC....can you sink any lower?

Why is it so hard for righties to simply say, "This was inappropriate, and I won't defend it."

You guys really bend over backwards to defend anyone & everyone in the GOP...

Most of the righties on the thread defended it. You couldn't even bring yourself to criticize it outright; even now, you're using the usual hack rationalizations. "Well, Dems booed....."

I never defended Dems booing, nor would I.

isn't equating booing - which is a long established method of voicing disapproval - with calling the president a LIAR a defense of that action?

I do say that. It was rude, lame, and inappropriate. What it wasn't was the "turning point"... That is delusional.

the only bad thing about Joe comment is the left can now use it for a distraction..

Remember California Democrat, Pete Stark and his multiple outbursts? The left has a double standard.

Grow up sir .. I've read your posts and being politically correct is not your forte.

You feign outrage when you and your party has a history of generalizing democrats, liberals, and anybody else who is not republican.

Your fake-ass outrage is quite humorous brother.

Republican identity is already at 21% and your party has been reduced to nothing more than a southern white mans party. You hav no representation in all of northeast America and you've lost ground with virtually every demographic.

Shouldn't you knuckleheads be trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with YOU rather than attempting fake outrage over an outrageous outburst.

And yes, HELL yes .. it is the entire Republican Party that is a disgrace. None of you knuckleheads tried to foster civility during town halls on healthcare .. now you whine about what you created.

Please ...

And, as usual when you're trying to "prove" hypocrisy, you fail.

This is a simple case of actions that were entirely inappropriate; I don't see you taking any of the righties on this thread to task for their defense of it. That's usually important to you when it's the other way around, isn't it?

I never defended the boos, and thought they reflected poorly on the party.
