So the Republicans want to give the President the power to raise the debt sealing himself... Much like the Democrats gave president Bush the power to wage war in Iraq.

I am against the Congress addacating there power in any such situation.

What are your thoughts?

thanks. preciate it.

mcconnell is going to screw the next election over.

it'll fail big time and ceding more power to any president is adding to the constitutional crisis due to happen.

Nah, he's just afraid that he'll be blamed for "shutting down the government" like in 1995. I don't see what his problem is, they all got re-elected anyway.

If Congress fails to provide for a bill that will increase the debt limit after having passed a bill that would certantly put the debt over that limit...

How would it be the presidents fault?

My read is that for the House, this is about there own reelection. For the Sennate its about the Presidents reelection / there own reelection.

The majority of the house members belive that no deal, or a no new taxes deal, is good for their reelection because they are smaller races and Tea Party support and money can really make a difference. For the Senate the majority belive that a deal is good for reelection but they are ballancing that with the knoledge that a deal on Obama's terms is also good for his reelection. The same holds true for Obama the outcomes that are best for his reelection are as follows, in order, A deal on his terms, (best for his reelection and the nation) No deal (next best for his reelection because he can blame Republicans for the shitty economy), finally a deal on the Republican terms... (bad for his reelection as it makes him appear weak and illrelevant, and as if he gave up, also in Obama's mind, and my own, bad for the nation.)

Obama holds the cards, so you will not see a deal solely on the Republicans terms.

You will see a compromise deal, or if the Republicans cant get a cooalition together, you will see no deal.
