Republicans Have to Cheat to Win

18 percent of Americans over 65 don't have the required photo ID to vote in Republican controlled states that passed voter ID laws. Republicans are denying seniors the ability to vote in an election where Republicans intend to make severe changes to Medicare and Social Security. Republicans are cheating seniors out of their right to representation.

The way I see it is that when a party has to cheat to win they are admitting through their conduct that they can't win on the merits of their position. I think that it is un-American to cheat seniors out of the right to vote and that the rest of us who still can vote should stand up for our seniors. After all, we will someday become seniors ourselves and when we take care of our seniors, we are taking care of ourselves and the values that America stands for. We have to show Republicans that dishonesty is not an American value.

Conservatives like to wax nostalgic about the America created by the Founders.

That would be the America that kept Blacks, women, and the poor from voting.

the question is why don't all of these people have any kind of ID? I mean seriously?

Do all of these people not get on planes? Cash checks? Get food stamps? There are lots of things that require ID, why don't you libtards complain about THAT?

Your feigned indignation is duly noted. Not sure what you are worried about, according to you, Maobama is going to win by 20 points

The obvious point here is. Why aren't they getting photo ID's then? Since the laws seem to be passing relatively easily, it's probably a good idea to deal with the change rather than just complain. Otherwise the election is going to be over, you still won't have voted and the guy you apparently hate will have won.

It's pretty simple I'd think even democrats could figure it out.

Exactly, What are these 18% that do not have any form of ID, all convicted felon's? In the 65+ years these people could not be bothered to get proper identification such as a drivers license or photo ID, then they should not be worried about voting.

So the Constitution says if a citizen "could not be bothered to get proper identification such as a drivers license or photo ID", they can't vote?

The US Constitution is quiet on voting. Please read it.

The point stands. Without proper identification, there are many aspects of society that these individuals are not able to participate in. Are they being unfairly targeted? Why aren't you talking about that?

The obvious answer is because they can't afford it. When one must;
A. Take a bus or cab to one's hometown, pay for a birth certificate, take a bus or cab to town hall, pay for an ID,
or
B. eat,
what choice is there, really?

Clearly they are participating just fine, until now. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

That's a bogus question. What is the purpose of these voter ID laws? To prevent voter fraud? That's a solution in search of a problem. There have been 348 cases of voter fraud in the last 10 years (citation National Association of Republican Lawyers). That's 0.7 cases of voter fraud per State per year.

The real problem these voter repression laws are intended to address is the declining numbers of white protstant voters who make up the overwhelming majority of the Republican base. It's a cynical attempt to repress minority voters and typically democratic demographics.

Having said that, if you're a Democrat I wouldn't get your panties in to much of a wad. There are now more ways and opportunities to vote then there ever have been in the past. This attempt at voter suppression by State level GOP is doomed to fail due to the multiple venues for voting and reeks of panic that the tides of time and changing Demographics are overwhelming them.

So you think it is funny that 20% of the population suffers from food insecurity?

:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

I think it is funny that you call it "food insecurity"

:rofl2:

We already have programs for that. Remember? Chairman Maobama has increased food stamp rolls by 46%. You should be doing back flips. Well, you would if you could get your fat arse off the couch

It really begs the question as to why so many "democrat" voters don't have ID. Aren't you concerned about other aspects of their life that require ID?

The problem isn't "any kind of ID", it's picture ID.

Use as an example a 70-year old woman with no picture ID. She goes to get one at the local DMV and they need a certified copy of her birth certificate, costing her x dollars. Then the birth certificate doesn't have the same legal last name she's using now because she took her husband's name 45 years ago when they got married. What then? Another step to buy a copy of the marriage license to put that link in the chain? And what if she was divorced and remarried, how many more documents are needed?

You idiots need to think it through. Furthermore, a lot of this photo ID crap came about as a result of the Patriot Act, so don't pretend people needed them forever.

You're right. The US Constitution and its amendments gave all citizens the right to vote, not the right to vote with photo ID only.
