Many said Mr. Trump could benefit from a wave of sympathy from across the party, with a base of supporters likely to be energized by a belief that the justice system has been weaponized against him.

It's kind of hilarious watching some of the interviews w/ GOP politicians. They're all blustery and "this is an outrage," and the reporter always asks them "do you know what the evidence is?" And then they start stuttering & coughing and looking uncomfortable. Pretty much consistently.
