It doesn't say of that 8.6M, how many left NY and CA.

I would expect NY and CA to lose people during the pandemic, but how many people actually left and what % of the population of each state is that? Then you can compare that to other states and get a rate of migration instead of just lazily looking at the gross numbers and refusing to go any deeper into them because you're intellectually slovenly.

If one of those "very fine people" is your friend, then to save their hides they could implicate you in the planning and support of what they did on 1/6.
