but the fact of the matter is that even if they are on a watch list and cant legally buy a gun they can still get a gun through other illegal means. They are terrorists and so if they can't get weapons legally then they will get them illegally so that they can still commit their crimes. The crime of carrying an illegal firearm is pretty trivial in comparison to the crimes they want to commit, and if they can't do it with a gun then they will use a bomb, and if not a bomb then a knife, and if not a knife then a car as a weapon. To point being guns are not the main problem.

In my personal opinion I am placing country over party since we are talking about constitutional rights. Guns are not difficult to get legally and I wouldn't doubt that for a criminal and especially a terrorist it's probably even easier getting weapons illegally. There has to be a way to respect constitutional rights and still be responsible at the same time regarding dangers to the country. The attacks on September 11th did not use a gun which means terrorists will use whatever is available to them to commit their acts. In my opinion we can't sacrifice our rights out of fear of someone else abusing them.
