Unfortunately, the people who lead your party in Congress are not openly pressuring Santos to resign, leaving me to conclude that George is a well regarded member of your team, a hero perhaps.
There’s a good reason why Republicans are finding it hard to criticize George Santos: he’s a mini-Trump. He bullshits like Trump, he gaslights like Trump, he projects like Trump and now he’s screaming about a witch-hunt like Trump.
A few obscure Republicans from some Long Island county organization in New York does not explain why your party in Congress on the whole welcomed creepy sleazebag George with open arms, and to this day are not openly pressuring him to resign. The only reasonable explanation is that creepy George is a well regarded member of your team.

I think fascism and white Christian nationalism first got it's fingers deeply into the GOP in 1992, when Pat Buchanan electrified the GOP base.
Christian nationalism appears to have made greater strides in the early 90s. While Pat Buchanan was clearly a fascist, he was on the fringe, not the mainstream. Newt was more mainstream albeit on the far right side of it. The fascism/white supremacism part began growing in lockstep with the “small government” folks but that took several years.
IMO, it would have moved faster without 9/11 but 9/11 also produced the downside of a much larger government, producing fodder for the National Tea Party wackos. The Teabaggers.
That said, I think the White Supremacy movement didn’t really sink its hooks into Republican Party until 2016+.
