Would you support this choice, a Republican Governor from Nevada who was previously appointed federal judge by GWB?

Or... Would you oppose it simply because he might be appointed by BHO?

Okay, you can believe there is 0 chance.... and you might be correct.

My question was IF...

I Don't know, I do know that GWB appointed him and a Republican Senate approved him.....

What does that mean? The right has been screwed over by judges many times. Can you say the same for the left?

Can you name one major ruling where Ginsberg wasn't a reliable lefty vote regardless of the law?

Receiving a lifetime appointment to the highest court has a tendency to moderate a conservative.

Are you looking for a knee jerk right wing reaction? Let the next prez nominate someone, or obama should go ahead and nominate someone and whimper because the senate won't hold a vote. Whatever. Are you askeered hitlery won't win or something?:whoa:

Even better. How about nominating Judge John Jones III from Katzmiller vs Dover fame. A George W. Bush appointee on the US District Court, Middle PA.

I don't know if he's ideologically conservative or liberal but he certainly understands what science is.

I just enjoy the squirming the senators would do if Obama appoints a former Bush appointee who was approved by mostly the same senators who opposed the guy.

We would win the senate by a comfy margin.

I think you should test the theory out, Jeerod......nominate someone Democrats would hate just to see if the Republicans would refuse to approve the nomination.....then you would know "if"......

It doesn't matter if the Senate refuses to hear him, it is embarrassing to Republicans to refuse to accept a Republican handed to them on a platter just because the president who nominated him was of the opposing political party. Makes them seem ridiculous. Let's make hay out of this.

Been looking into Brian Sandavaals as a nominee. It appears that he is an actual candidate to be nominated by Obama to SCOTUS. A very interesting choice. He's not a professional Jurist. He's not an east coast ivy leaguer. As a governor he's quite moderate, he's pro-choice, supported implementation of the PPACA, a western gun rights supporter and he's an OSU alum.

I like the idea of a SCOTUS jurist who's not an ivy league grad. That would definitely add some balance to the court. The fact that he's a Republican and, if nominated, would make it difficult for the Senate to not have a confirmation hearing.
