Reinstall Glass-Steagal?

Glass-Stegal is important to protect free trade and banking.

We can't have unfair monopolies and trusts, AND a free market.

Now party platforms don't mean all that much but wth is going here? Republicans are joining people like Sanders and Warren in wanting to bring it back. They do want to repeal Frank-Dodd which is a positive.

WTF is happening right now? Republicans anti-free trade and pro big regulation. This is nuts.

The Gramm-Bliley act was a disaster that lead directly to the sub prime crisis, can you deny that?

Yes. Banks fell apart because of mortgage lending and exposure to mortgages. They were allowed to do that before the legislation. So the repeal had nothing to do with the meltdown.

Well we can feel good about it, we aint in the gop.... If I was I would feel sick to my stomach right now.......
no pain /no gain.
This 2 party system is not just a stale, stagnant swamp of disservice to anyone but the oligarchs;
it's also a main cause of rank partisanship masquerading as a conflict of ideas.

Blow it up-it can't be repaired.

Our free trade agreements have not delivered free trade
That's why they need to go. Doddfrank is a disaster and should go.

The worst thing Bill ever did was sign on to the repeal of Glass-Steagall. Ask him. "Do you think that this country is better off with the repeal of Glass-Steagall?" He will of course defend his action, but he is actually a smart guy and will cringe at your question. He was mis-led by the banking industry to believe that they would police their own. They didn't. They jumped onto toxic mortgages to cover their nefarious greed, and that is exactly why Glass-Steagall was instituted in the first place.

Hey good buddy! Can you share for those of us not as informed as you how you feel the toxic mortgages would not have come about if not for the GS repeal?

Are you kidding me? Separation of investment and banking is the entire point of GS. How could toxic mortgages exist without bankers? Would you do me a favor and simply STFU?

So there would be no bankers if not for GS being repealed? That's genius! Are you Rune and Desh's lovechild by chance?

Are you Rune?

If you mean, I am Rune?, a moderator here, I think not. cawacko, you are a fool, and STFU. Can you simply supply us with one fact that we can appreciate you for? I want to think the best of you. I really do. Just one fact that makes you real. I mean just one actual fact, please. Let me make this simple for you. Do you believe in the first amendment?

Prakosh?

Clearly there are people with different opinions on this issue. I can post people who claim the opposite.

Well I would imagine that a hedge fund manager ought to have some insight, wouldn't you? If you read the article you'd see that the man knows his shit.

I've read James Rickards book on currency wars so I'm familiar with who he is. He's a very smart dude and I have a lot of respect for him. But being a hedge fund manager alone doesn't mean he is correct. On an appeal to authority I can post from some highly educated well respected people who say differently. I'm busy this week but give me to this weekend and I'll do so.
