Red Tsunami fizzles to an end

yay, we get to see party over principle in both houses again..........I love gridlock. at least some of what's left of my freedom will remain intact for a couple years.

The Senate investigated Watergate, the 9/11 attack, and the Iraq intelligence failure, and I don't think they had to beg the House for it's permission to investigate

They do not need permission from the house, they just have less oversight powers

--What an Expanded 51 to 49 Senate Majority Means--

Democrats can do away with the power sharing agreement and will hold majorities in each committee, allowing them to process legislation and nominations much faster. Democrats will also enjoy bigger staffs and budgets, giving them more ability to carry out committee work. Committees are currently evenly split -- as are the resources -- allowing Republicans to slow the pace of nominees they oppose. When a choice deadlocks in committee, Democrats must take time-consuming steps to discharge that person from committee and allow a floor vote. In one instance earlier this year, Republicans used Banking Committee rules to prevent a vote from even taking place by boycotting committee sessions, ultimately forcing President Joe Biden to withdraw a nominee for the Federal Reserve. Tuesday's result will also free up additional floor time for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to use toward other nominees and Democratic priorities.

Democrats will have stronger power to issue subpoenas. They will no longer need bipartisan support to issue subpoenas so they can bypass GOP opposition to using these key tools. This could increase the power and number of Democratic-led investigations.

Centrist Democrats may not hold as much power over Democrats' agenda. A two-seat majority margin gives Schumer more breathing room to pass legislation without needing support from all members of his caucus -- like West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin and Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, moderates who will both be up for reelection in 2024. The two held enormous power in the 50-50 Senate.

Filling a Supreme Court vacancy could be easier. The two-seat margin could also become critical if there were to be a Supreme Court vacancy as only a majority is needed to confirm a justice to that post, allowing Schumer to lose one vote.

Harris might not be needed as often on the Hill. Democrats likely won't have to rely as heavily on Vice President Kamala Harris to break tie votes on nominations and legislation, something she's done 26 times so far in the current 50-50 Senate, the most by any vice president in modern times.

The Red Tsunami turned out to be a Trump ketchup tsunami. BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!

I really don't think about Trump anymore, he's been gone, how many years now?

Sure, if you can find enough votes in the House you can do it, but those who vote for crazy spending or mandates will commit political suicide and they won't do that.
Spending is only crazy according to Republicans, when Democrats are in power. Otherwise, they're worse when it comes to spending. They all voted against infrastructure bills, but go home and brag about the money their states get.

In case you haven't noticed, trump isn't gone. How can you pretend that he is?

If Biden can't get The House and the Senate to work together, we may not even be able to keep the lights on!

Here it is Budget time again, and the Republicans are threatening to prevent raising the debt ceiling!

So I expect McCarthy or whoever his replacement will be, and Chuckie to be spending a lot of time in the Principals office over the next month.

Whereas the crazies love to brag about shutting down/killing the govt., it has always backfired against them. I don't see that happening. In fact, even McTurtle wants to get the spending bill passed this year.

Under the constitution, the house has more broad investigation powers, and rights. That does not prevent the Senate from investigating however.

This is an interesting idea.

Schiff was on NPR this morning. He sounded like if the repubs want to end the Jan. 6 committee, they could. But that's coming from Schiff - not very credible on anything.
As far as my own opinion, the pubs would be stupid to end it. They really need to purge themselves of Trump. If they do end it, they align themselves with an unpopular and crazy Trump.

It’s clear they want to get rid of them, but they are afraid of his base. Behind the scenes, they are doing everything they can to get rid of him, but they are scared to do anything publicly.

That's the thing about politicians and one of the reasons I liked Trump, they are all beholden to their special interests. They are all in someone's pocket. Trump wasn't. Well he's been out of office for a while. I don't think about him much.

You are in Dreamland. I'm not disappointed at all. The House is gone for you. That is all that matters.

Without it, there is gridlock. You won't get any more insane spending bills or fascist mandates through now.

Thank God.

You did t read what was posted huh idiot

There are republicans in the house that will be indicted in trump admin crimes

You only have a few seats making you the majority

New elections will have to be held to fill seats in some cases

The Republican Party crimes will be fully fleshed out to the people

You are fucked as a party

The beauty is that MAGA posters and garden variety MAGA rubes just are never able to learn how toxic the stench of Trump is to the wider electorate.

They do seem as puzzled over our loathing and disdain for the orange shitgibbon as we norms are over their worship of the same.

The TrumpTroll needs some reading comprehension lessons. Maybe she could ask her scissor-sister, the fake "teacher," for help. Oh wait. That one can't read, write, or reason either.

It's funny the dumb bunny thinks that Trump is "gone" when he's actively running for office again. But then she thinks that vaccines are poison, Biden is a pedo, and unicorns are real.

You're definitely one of his favorite people -- the poorly-educated. What makes you believe #TRE45ON wasn't/isn't beholden to anyone? Why did he hide his tax returns? Why was he so obsequious around Putin and Xi? Why was everything he did and said preceded by "What's in it for ME?"

Most of us dislike lobbyists and large corporate donations to candidates, even those we favor. But at least those things are *American,* not Russian, Chinese, North Korean, etc. I bet you didn't know that your #MaliciousMango "forgot" to report money he got from NK, did you?

Trump Had Hidden $19.8 Million Loan From North Korea-Linked Company As President: Report

Poorly-educated sheeple can't see shit like that.

The problem with trump is that he's his own special interest. He used his 4 years in office to put taxpayer money directly into his own pockets.

We will be finding out what foreign special interests were in his pockets soon. His hotel in DC was extremely suspect when it came to foreign players bestowing money via overpriced hotel fees.

We will see. I don't keep up much with what he's doing. Had he conceded gracefully he would win again in a landslide. But he didn't do that, so.
