Red Hen Owner Resigns In Disgrace From Local Org After Kicking Out Sarah

Your last two statements are pretty much the way I see it as well. We have several holidays/year to celebrate those who served and remember those who didn't make it home. Plus parades, hundreds of congresscritters who pay at least lip service to our vets, charities to help them out, etc. so it's not like we send 'em off and that's it. So it's hard to see why some feel so needy and compelled to flaunt it for some sort of points or something. There is one here who was also over on the Amazon forum who actually demanded to be thanked for his service. Phantasmal will recall that incident.

The irony is that some of those angered write that they served in the military "to defend our freedoms" but apparently that doesn't mean the freedom to criticize the flag.

Yep. I see the one I referenced who demanded to be thanked for his service actually started a thread to whine about being a victim and those mean bad ppl who, like me, deplore fake patriotism as an insult to those who are real.

Have not read this whole thread at all so I have no idea what started this whole conversation. Just want to say that before this. While everyone has the freedom to criticize the flag, there is a big difference between criticizing it and shitting on it. Anyone that served or is serving has in someway defended everyone's freedoms in this country. And they generally did it voluntarily. And many died of course. That flag means something different to them than sadly many other Americans. Once again just saw this, thought it was worth answering though it might be 100% off topic.

True. There is also a difference between criticizing those who wave it around to exhibit their "patriotism," and criticizing the flag (and what it stands for -- this country), wouldn't you agree? How do you feel about those who criticize false patriots and their use of the flag as a prop to show how loyal and devout they are? Are they traitors, are they merely making a protected-speech observation, or are they patriots?

I completely agree with your first sentence. The flag represents all Americans, their freedoms and their sacrifices for those freedoms. One cannot be selective about what it represents. If I am reading your second sentence correctly, the flag is not a symbol of loyalty. It is a symbol of freedom. Once again, one cannot be selective as to what it represents. It is all of us.

I agree that it is not a symbol of loyalty. Unfortunately there are those who see and use/abuse it that way. Then there are those of us -- myself included -- who call them out on it.

Which is your rights. And not the true meaning of it at all. Instead of calling them out, try educating them. You have a talent for things like that!

She knows that. She just wants to play PoorWiddleVictim again and how mean and horrible the JPP mods are for not believing her.

Actually I think in her syphilis invaded brain, she believes if you write something,on Goodreads she don't like. She thinks the Moderator 's here have a responsibility to ban you here, for what Toxic don't like there!

In honor of the continuing success of the Red Hen restaurant, tonight our dinner featured our own version of farm-to-table fare. We had locally-produced link sausages, from-scratch (is there any other kind?) blueberry pancakes with locally-grown blueberries, veggie omelets with locally-produced eggs and veggies from the Farmer's Market. All beaks and mouths pronounced it "MMMMmmmmm."

I just got another request to donate to a new GoFundMe page for the RH...Since business is booming , I sent a reply and asked what the money was for. I'll let you know if I get a reply...

If a bartender can decide when you've had too much to drink, a waiter gets to decide when you had too much to eat. Fair is fair.
