Well, I thought I'd join the reindeer games and tell everyone why I won't be seeing certain movies this season.

Crank was pretty devoid of any substantive plot but provided a level of escapism needed at the time. So, I thought Crank 2 would do the same thing. It didn't. It was probably one of the worst movies I've seen in the last decade. As a result I won't be watching Crank 3 even if I'm on hr #14 on a 24 hr flight to New Zealand with a broken ipod, no book, and have finished thoroughly reading every detail to ever gadget listed in Sky Mall.

Hey how you doing?

That was my thread. I just took the guys title. I might actually watch it, because I do enjoy yelling at the TV and there might be one or two takeaways. But I thought the authors points were good ones.

Yeah, I have not watched any of Statham's movies since Transporter. I think I actually only watched that one because I confused it as being that English film about heroin (googled it... Trainspotting), which was pretty good.

Whats wrong with Jason Statham? I rather liked Revolver, even though it fucks with your head.

Well, I haven't seen that one as my post might indicate. I am not an action film fan. I just assumed his movies were all the same, since that is what the ads seem to indicate.

Transporter was not horrible for the genre. I just don't care for that genre.

In the real world, nobody really beats up 3 or more guys at once, unless they are all incredibly inept at fighting. And if they are that inept they are likely to flee rather than fight.

I do like his exercise regimen. I read, I think in Men's Health (before I got tired of the magazine trying be too much like Maxim and pushing junk science), where his workout is all about being able to kick someone's ass, instead of grotesquely muscled and being able to lift weights.

Try Revolver. It's a Guy Ritchie film but not really an action film, though it does have a couple action scenes.

I'm a student of martial arts and I often enjoy watching the make-believe world of fighting that happens in movies. Even though the fighting is make-believe, there is skill the make-believe of true martial artists, like Lee, Norris, Snipes, and White.

Statham doesn't really have that skill. He has good editing. Nothing he's done since Transporter 1 has been any good .. but he's a rarity .. a british action star.

If you want to see amazing make-believe martial arts, try "Ong Bak." Hopefully, Ong Bak 2 will be as good .. if they don't go to heavy on the make-believe.

Which art do you study? I'm currently a student of systema and combat sambo.
