Reason to vote third party/write in.

Last night Stephen Colbert said:

I've been voting Libertarian since the previous millennium.
But it would be dishonest of me to say that it accomplishes anything.
I can't think of any 3rd party candidate I've ever voted for that actually won.

I disagree..

Since you are not going to vote for one of the major corporate party nominees your only other option is not vote~which is exactly their default.. If you are not voting for me, don't vote...

Not voting lets them define the apathy, disgust or whatever suites them...

If you do vote, & don't vote for them then you do send a message-THAT YOU VOTE & DO NOT SUPPORT EITHER OF THEM....

If enough ppl do that something will change...

The bull shit about not voting for them is a waste, is just that bull shit-we don't owe them our vote, we don't owe them a damn thing....

My two cents anyway..:D

Yes.
But it's "making a statement". It barely rates an asterisk in the record books.

U.S. elections have binary outcomes. Win or lose. Period.

My first presidential vote was cast in 1972. I voted against Richard ("I am not a crook") Nixon. I genuinely don't remember who I voted for. It was the guy that ran against Nixon that year.
I don't recall me ever having voted for any candidate that ever won.

So why do I waste the fuel in the moped to get to the poll? I could stay home and mainline some more heroin instead.

You are so obviously full of shit.

EVERYONE ... from Republicans, Democrats, liberals, conservatives and all the permutations there within...should say NO to Wall St. whores, sycophants, and all who sail with them in the corporate world.

I'd never argue against going 3rd party-it's a principled stance and should be respected.
But I did it in '12 and I did it recently for Florida governor ( Charlie Christ v Scott).

It's intellectually honest, and emotionally unsatisfying at the same time

No matter how you vote, don't expect a change in your immediate life time for a change when you vote for a 3rd party. Of course, when that change comes it may not be the one you want. But that is the price we pay for our democracy.

I'm opposite of you politically but in this case am voting for Gary Johnson so we are both going third party. How much heat have you taken from fellow liberals who think negatives associated with Hillary are from lies by Darrell Isa and Trump?

Outside of forums, I don't waste time discussing politics in public....less of a headache. But, I've gotten a truck load of grief from my Pop, who hasn't been right since I voted for Ralph Nader.

I think you and a lot of people are going to find that history judges Hillary a lot different then the general population does at this time.

Depends who is doing the judging, much less the writing of that history. As Null points out, she's far from the person a lot of her supporters think she is.

No comment for taichiliberal? He posted the article and he's definitely not a right winger. Have liberals co-opted Reagan's 11th commandment?

Calm down, I responded today. I can't come here and play all the time, and what time I do depends on what's on the agenda that day/week. And remember, I'm an Independent, so group think doesn't apply to me.

My response was to Rana. I asked why she had no response to your post. I wasn't asking you to respond

Depends who is doing the judging, is so right...absolutely correct.....

Now consider.....with over 90% of the media in Hillary's corner, and with a majority of the teachers being who they are, and Hillary in the position of the most powerful women on earth....what will history look like to your children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.....imo....it will not come close to truth, the facts, we, here right now, know it to be.

If you know some college student now, just ask them who fought in our Civil War, or what the Vietnam War was all about, or who the VP is today and see what they know....

its pitiful ......

you are fucking con

Man, get the crack out of that pipe of yours! If you can refute or disprove what Gary Null documents, then do so. If not, STFU and start critically thinking! Because brother, the revolution will leave you behind.

:dunno: What do I care about record books??

I am sending a message to the parties, not the record books........

Ppl voting, & are not voting for them-> That's the message.. If enough participate they will either adapt or die..........

That is one part of the story....don't ignore the other. Here's an example:

Because Libertarians are just neocons who want to smoke dope and get laid....and all the BS the spew when it comes to a business owners right to discriminate is a no sale to most Americans.

When a 3rd is a viable threat to our two party system, there is collusion to shut it down....just ask Ralph Nader.

Poor don, no body likes him except his deplorables.......... & that won't be enough........ Oh well..............
