Rasmussen: Gingrich soars ahead of Mittens by 21%

The Repubs are demonizing their own. People complain about Obama not getting anything done. What are the Repubs going to accomplish when they can't get along among themselves?

What the hell are you talking about? Obama is doing nothing but pointing fingers. We need a leader who knows how to get things done. Obama is not a leader. This country is in deep trouble and we can't afford partisanship. Democrats need to realize we have to make drastic cuts. Taking more from the wealthy is not going to solve the problem. The problem is spending. When you can't pay your bills, do you rob your wealthy neighbor and then justify it by saying he needs to contribute his "fair share". Are YOU and your pals the ones who determine what is fair? No. The American people do. You're in for a rude awakening.

I think it was the next day he ran into a Republican supporter who said, "You're an embarrassment to the party. Why don't you get out before you make a bigger fool of yourself."

I wonder if that guy, when it comes down to voting, will pull the lever for Newt over Obama? Or will he be one of the idiots who sits home and sulks because "his guy/gal" didn't make the cut? Or maybe he is one of the idiots who will peel off votes from the GOP and vote for a third party? I wish they had gotten his name and stuff, so we could find out how he ultimately cast his vote.

Talking about dealing with it I must say you have dealt very well with Hermie's fall from grace. I, and I believe others, are hoping you take Newt's downfall as graceful. It must be tough seeing your idols drop like files.

The blunder is coming as sure as Christmas. Be strong. There is no shortage of wackos and weirdos to take his place. I'm sure you'll find another candidate to whom you can relate when Newt bits the dust.

The way I see it, you're running out of people to bite the dust. It's almost like the lefties think, all the GOP candidates are going to implode and Obama will be the first president to ever be re-elected with no challenge! Hey... I admit, that IS a great strategy in Obama's case, it's probably about the only way he could be re-elected at this point.... but I doubt it shakes out that way. Something tells me the GOP will eventually nominate someone to run against Obama in the general election.

Of course, here is the deal in a nutshell, whomever we nominate is going to have to be oblivious to attacks from the left. It's not easy to find someone with the political moxie, poise and skill, to handle the democrat slime machine. I'm not even sure if Newt is up to the task, but I think he probably is more familiar with what he will face than anyone else in the race. People say "Newt has baggage" and my thinking is... GREAT! I'd much rather have a known quantity! It's better to have a candidate who everyone knows their baggage already, than someone who can be broadsided by the mainstream media and smeared with something no one knew about. I don't think Romney is going to win the GOP nomination, but I'll put money on the table right now, that if he does, we'll hear all kinds of scandalous shit about him in short order. The Dems have PLENTY to smear him with, it hasn't come out now, because they are hoping and praying we nominate the goob! I guarantee you, the last balloon will not have hit the floor at the convention, before the shit starts rolling out on Mittens.

I think about the debates between Obama and the GOP nominee... which one of them could stand toe-to-toe with Obama? Bachmann? Santorum? Romney? Paul? I don't think any of them could compare with Newt. As for someone to represent conservative philosophy against liberals and democrats, I'd rather have someone who worked with Ronald Reagan, understood Reagan's policies, and has the depth and background to speak on the topics in an articulate way... that's Newt Gingrich, like him or not.

What's fair is not taking from those who can least afford it. Is there something about that you don't understand? Yes, drastic cuts have to be made, made by plugging loop holes, cutting the military, increasing taxes on the wealthy. Fair is not cutting medical care for the poor. Fair is not cutting welfare or other social programs for the needy.

Obama is not going to take from the needy just to make a deal. What kind of a deal would that be? He's not a Newt Gingrich who is willing to sell his soul for the Presidency or a John McCain who virtually destroyed his own reputation that he built up over decades.

It's about "principals", those things the Repubs like to talk about but have absolutely no idea what they are.

Yes, the surprise is coming. As people hear Repub ideas like having children clean schools they'll know for whom to vote.

I don't know how he'll vote but I bet it sickens him to see what the Repub party has become.

You are so fucking deep in the koolaid vat that you are sticking to the gunk in the bottom!

Drastic cuts have to be made, this is true. Plugging a few loopholes is equivalent to scotch tape on a leaking dam. Increasing taxes on the wealth producers, will result in LESS TAX REVENUE, because that has ALWAYS been the case! This means, even MORE cuts will have to be made, because there will be less money to spend. Actually, a tax DECREASE on the wealth producers, would create more tax-paying jobs, and create MORE REVENUE. As for military cuts, Gingrich himself made the point that it doesn't make sense for us to spend billions and trillions on some 10-year technological project that will be obsolete by the time it is finished.

What's fair is not taking from those who can least afford it. No, what's FAIR is not TAKING anything from anyone! But we have to raise revenue to pay for certain limited but required things the government does for everyone, so the FAIR thing to do, is have a system where we all pay equally.

But that's the point, Mott. It was when he was confronted by a wing nut on the extreme and started getting pressure from the wingnut club that he started back tracking.

At one point he blamed the reporter. Then he backtracked. Whether his answer was good or bad is secondary. As I've said before he's like John McCain. He'd sell his soul for the Presidency. And let's not forget he'd bring the "wingnut club" with him if he was elected. As you correctly stated the tail is wagging the dog. Would that change if Newt was elected?
True but those are legitimate criticisms about his ability to govern and the direction he would take the nation. Those are legitimate reasons for concern but, as I said, I don't give a rats ass about the other tabloid BS about Newt.

No I think Romney will eventually win the nomination by attrition, run a competitive race against Obama and ultimately lose because know one knows what the hell he really believe in.

Romney strikes me as a far stronger general election candidate then he is as a republican primary candidate.

This is interesting. I kind of agree with what you are saying, but I don't see Romney winning the nomination. When I compare Romney with Newt, something very important really jumps out at me... Romney seems to not be comfortable in his skin, while Gingrich is the polar opposite. Romney always comes across as someone who is struggling to try and explain himself, down to the calm reasoned tone and understated voice, he just 'feels' like he is desperately trying to connect. Newt doesn't have that same demeanor at all, he is statesman-like, confident, almost TOO confident at times, and on virtually any subject, has a well thought out and smart viewpoint, if you follow him through his thoughts. Romney spends a lot of time acting as though he has to explain his past policies and justify them, while Gingrich points to Ronald Reagan, and claims much of the responsibility for the era of prosperity we enjoyed.

Now let me explain what I think you are seeing. Romney is the media darling for now, he is who the Democrats and establishment GOP elites, want to win the nomination, and that is virtually who controls ALL the mainstream media, including Fox. No one is laying a glove on Romney at this point, because frankly, no one has thrown any punches. Therefore, he is coming across as someone who is electable to independents and moderates, who are presuming that Romney will continue to be the media darling he is today. The problem is, that won't be the case if he gets the nomination. Once the GOP has sealed its fate with Romney, the gloves will come off and the left wing media will unveil all of this saved up shit from the past 8 years on Romney, and he will be sunk in short order, because he simply doesn't know how to deal with the pressure. Look... he is already coming across as a chump who's trying to sell himself and convince us NOW... what do you think he will do when the Democrats unleash public relations hell on him? He'll fold like a cheap K-mart tent, that's what!

Newt is like a fucking Conservative Battleship... The USS NEWT! lol.... let them fire away at him all they like, he is unsinkable!

Didn't you say that about your Mandingo man-love until yesterday?

Are you too deep in mourning to think coherently? It looks like it...

Every candidate, from both parties, get smeared. Look at Obama and the so-called terrorist connection. He was a little kid when the Underground were planting bombs. Or people trying to say he was indoctrinated in Kenya, in kindergarten!

For me, it's not Newt's baggage. It's things like telling people he has "great ideas" and there needs to be a major change and then talks about kids cleaning schools. Great ideas or ideas of a mad man? Talking about social engineering and then having to call Ryan to apologize. Are his ideas really his ideas or is he another McCain saying and doing anything to win the nomination? His campaign staff jumping ship. When that's added to the fact his own party threw him out on ethics violations, that he had affairs on two wives, people start connecting the dots.

But it's not equal. Poor people do not realize a tax break on capital gains. Poor people do not have loopholes to use when payroll deductions are made. Let's make it equal. Every cent one gets, be it from capital gains or inheritance or money found in their back yard, is taxable. Then we can talk about fair.

Newt is definitely like a ship. The Titanic. Full speed ahead into that iceberg. :D

For you? As IF you are some independent-minded conscientious voter who is evaluating the candidates based on their principles? LMFAOSBOMN! For YOU the thing is, he is NEWT FUCKING GINGRICH! The antithesis to everything your socialist liberal ass believes in, and possibly the Liberal Antichrist! If Martians came down and implanted a Martian brain into your skull, you STILL wouldn't vote for Newt Gingrich, it is that much a part of your DNA! Don't sit here and pretend that there is something about Newt Gingrich which, if it weren't like that, you'd vote for him! What a fucking joke!

As for his ideas, Newt doesn't say he has "great ideas" ....other people say that about Newt! I have no idea what you keep murmuring about with this "kids cleaning schools" crap, but I'll tell ya, I am not all that opposed to having delinquent little miscreants being worked by the school to punish them, or freeloaders working for their free breakfast. I'd have to hear more of the specifics of his idea, but really, I don't see much wrong with the concept. What he said about Ryan's plan, was not about the specifics of Ryan's plan, it was a candid, honest, and true statement, whether you are right, left or center, and every American should agree with. We live in a free society, it's no more appropriate for the right to mandate something than for the left to do it. Our approach, to ANYTHING, should be bipartisan! Both sides should compromise and negotiate, and whatever results should be what we can mostly all agree on and live with. There is not a damn thing wrong with the point Newt Gingrich made, it was brilliantly put, and brilliantly stated. It was turned into some sort of negative dig on Paul Ryan, and for that, Gingrich apologized to Ryan, as most decent people would do.

Yep... his campaign team jumped ship... ironically enough, you want to know who else had their campaign team jump ship in the opening weeks of their candidacy? The Old Gipper Himself! Ronald Wilson Reagan! Not a bad freaking example to follow, in my opinion. And yes... we know that Newt was unfaithful to his wife... *GASP* Oh my gawd.... he's going to HELL! Maybe we should nominate Billy Graham so the Dim-o-crats like Apple will be satisfied that we have a moral man running against Obama? Again... LMFAO--SBOMN!

Connect these dots, moron.... 9% unemployment... 16% Real unemployment... no job growth... stagflation... 25% minority unemployment... 25% under-employment... no economic growth... massive debt crisis... feckless leadership... malaise...

If you don't know what I'm referring to or seen a video clip of the exchange then you have no idea what you're talking about or who you're supporting. Of course, that's par for the course with Righties. Any Right wacko, fruitcake will do. Bush was proof of that.

I do hope you've sufficiently dealt with the grief of losing Hermie before getting hit with another crash and burn because, baby, it's a-comin'.
