Rangel ‘trial’ spotlights flaws in House ethics process

are you honestly suggesting that the IRS and the DOJ have been kept blindfolded by the ethics committee?

Are you honestly suggesting that either one of those agencies is incapable of acting on the actions of Rep. Rangel without the concurrence/acquiescence of the house ethics committee?

why do you keep deflecting from the issue?

anyway, back to the issue....why is it the ethics panel did not REFER the case to those authorities, despite, finding clear and convincing evidence rangel was guilty of said charges?

why is you liberals have deflected and are trying to turn this into a thread about the irs or doj....

this thread is about the ethics panel being a joke and i said not turning him over is another example of the joke the ethics panel has become....

they should have referred the case because they found clear and convincing evidence he didn't pay taxes for over 17 years...

why are you defending them not referring the case to the doj or irs?

Is the DOJ or IRS somehow being prevented from pursuing this case on their own? Why does it need to be referred?

Is the DOJ or IRS somehow being prevented from pursuing this case on their own? Why does it need to be referred?

more deflection....

the ethics panel has all the evidence watermark....and by clear and convincing evidence they found him guilty of violating state and federal laws

once again:

why is it, they won't refer the matter to the proper authorities? i don't care if the authorities will take it upon themselves to get in the middle of a congressional matter (don't forget the brances of government)....i want to know why they didn't exercise their authority and refer the matter

can you address that?

So yurt...are you suggesting that the IRS and the DOJ somehow are wearing a blindfold that can only be lifted by an ethics committee referral?

and if you are NOT suggesting that...what, pray tell, would be stopping either of those federal agencies from proceeding against Rep. Rangel if they thought they had a strong enough case?

why do you keep running from my question maineman.....

it is really simple:

why did the ethics panel NOT refer the case to those agencies....

why do you think they NEED to?

Is the evidence of his actions not in the public domain?

is there evidence of the republicans on the ethics committee demanding that the case be forwarded and the democrats refusing to do so?

it really is simple ohioman....

answer my fucking questions, or shut the fuck up.

your choice, george

I don't think he said they NEED to....he said they DIDN'T,.... and I say they WON'T
Whats your point?

ORF says:

The DOJ isn't blindfolded, they were probably ordered not the intervene just like in the case of the Blk. Panthers obvious voter intimidation case...

And its more a case of getting permission and/or concurrence with the ruling Administration....
Rangel will walk away from criminal prosecution and his undeniable guilt of tax evasion...............because he's a Democrat and the double standard is alive and well....

No different than the treatment these tax evaders got...they don't even deny it...

lmao...while demanding others answer your questions, you still won't answer a simple question, instead, you seek to deflect and derail

your choice, rachel

Dude, Congress has the power to expel their members.

Seriously, this is Ds doing anything and everything they can to let the guy continue in office. If this guy was an R I'd still be saying, "Time to go, pal!"

Now we have Congress saying, The definition of "is", and unsurprisingly, Desh is all over any excuse whatsoever to give the guy a pass. If I'd done what he has done the IRS would have landed on me like a big heavy thing landing on a much smaller thing...
He was just voted back in to office by a HUGE margin!

I guess they like their Rotten Rangel!

The PEOPLE have spoken!

While I'm sympathetic to the view that Congress policing itself is pretty worthless, I'm not sure what alternative there is that would be better. What powers do you think the ethics committees should have that they do not have and for what purpose? What is the alternative and how would it be better?

You have got to be kidding. No wonder you liberals protect your own, you unethical piece of shit
