For the simple fact that they do not benefit and that next year, he/she will still be in need. But the OBVIOUS has always been a difficult concept for dimwits on the left.

You see, there is a LOT of wisdom and truth in the saying that if you give a person a fish, he/she will eat for a day; however, if you TEACH him/her to fish, he/she will eat for a lifetime.

Liberals merely seek to hand out the fish because it gives them a warm fuzzy feeling that they care more than anyone else while keeping people dependent on them and thus, in political power. Conservatives want to TEACH the poor to fish so they can be independent and feed themselves for a lifetime and thus, not needing a vast Government nanny state.

But alas, I am talking to the dunces who still believe that Government is the solution to all our social ills but ironically only Government run by arrogant leftists who arrogantly presume to know what is best for all of us; when the OTHER guys win elections, Government is hypocritically presumed to be bad by these same dunces.
 
and one of the very biggest causes of poverty is the fact that, in America, the average IQ is 100. That means that fully half the population only has a double digit IQ. For many of them, the intricacies of computers and spread sheets and databases and programmable phones are really really hard to master... and in many cases, they are beyond their ability to ever grasp. Those people are always going to be with us, they are being born just as fast as they are dying.... and we will always have to determine, as a society, how we are all going to live together and survive.

Simple; but again this debate is well beyond your pay grade. It is because they are not benefitting by being a "dependent" on Government largess. Just as they have not benefitted by Government redistributing the wealth of those who earn it to provide it to gullible fools who will vote for them.

How can you say that they do not benefit? If some wealthy benefactor walked up to your door and offered to pay your mortgage for the next six months, are you saying you wouldn't see that as a BENEFIT?

And the cool thing about LiHEAP is that it is not a one time deal. Next heating season, the program is still there.

Notice how you slid the word differential in there. So your whole idea isn't lifting anyone up but tearing someone down. Your example still doesn't do anything to change the income of the poor.

For example the bottom 10% pay ZERO in federal income taxes so increasing the marginal rate on the rich will have ZERO impact on them. Now stop embarrassing yourself recruit and clean the head like I ordered you to. Dismissed

Oh the moral degradation that someone who takes a hand up must be made to feel!

No one wants anyone to be dependent upon government largesse (with an "e", moron), but I certainly don't want people freezing to death because they can't afford to heat their apartments... and if government DOES help them heat their apartments and they do not freeze to death, I cannot imagine how any of the recipients of that program would not call it a benefit to them.

The research also found that, as you might expect, wealthier Americans have a higher likelihood of owning a smartphone, but “younger adults—regardless of income level—are very likely to be smartphone owners.” That seems to suggest that the trend toward smartphone adoption will continue.

because 56% of adults have smart phones, that means that all of them, and the other 44% who DON'T own phones are not intimidated by technology in the least... that they all can design and build spread sheets and data bases, and can easily compete in a business environment that is increasingly technical...
