Yep, you read that correctly. The radical Left in Journalism is upset that the new Speaker isn't a rich, corrupt oligarch...

Does New Speaker of the House Mike Johnson Have a Bank Account?
Does New Speaker of the House Mike Johnson Have a Bank Account?

Over the course of seven years, Johnson has never reported a checking or savings account in his name, nor in the name of his wife or any of his children, disclosures show. In fact, he doesn’t appear to have money stashed in any investments, with his latest filing—covering 2022—showing no assets whatsoever.

Of course, it’s unlikely Johnson doesn’t actually have a bank account. What’s more likely is Johnson lives paycheck to paycheck—so much so that he doesn’t have enough money in his bank account to trigger the checking account disclosure rules for members of Congress...

Jordan Libowitz, communications director for watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, offered a more blunt assessment, saying that if Johnson truly doesn’t have any assets, it “raises questions about his personal financial wellbeing.”

So, we have Speaker that lives like most middle-class schmucks with a mortgage, a checking account, making enough to pay the bills and not a lot more. Seems to me that's the sort we need more of in Dirty City, not fewer. But not on the Left. On the Left they want more of the dirty, corrupt, oligarch types like Pelosi, Waters, or Biden. Hell, they should be cheering Trump on in this political category...

God it is fun to watch the malcontent lefties twist.First they blow the vote that would have prevented this and now the refusal to accept the fact they brought it on themselves.

Ho hum.

Another ridiculous bullshit right-wing nutjob thread based on another idiotic, right-wing bullshit premise that nobody takes seriously.

Yawn.

But is it ever so funny to see Democrats shoot themselves in the foot.

How'd they do that?

The GOP has the majority. They elect the Speaker. All of the candidates were MAGA.

I doubt Dems are sitting around pining for their big "ally" McCarthy. In the long run, having someone as extreme as Johnson be a prominent face of that party will likely be a benefit for their campaigns.

These people are fascists. Trump turned the GOP in fascism.

Corrupt? I'd say trying to overturn the will of the American people in 2020 is pretty corrupt. It's not only corrupt, it's a violation of his oath to preserve and protect The Constitution.

So, yeah. He's pretty damn corrupt. His crime - betrayal of his oath and treason.

Mike Johnson, the United States Representative for Louisiana’s 4th congressional district, has amassed an estimated net worth of $5 million.

Mike Johnson’s financial portfolio includes valuable real estate assets worth a staggering $2.9 million in Louisiana. Among these holdings, he possesses a sprawling 12,000-square-foot mansion located in Baton Rouge, a vast 5,000-acre ranch situated in Shreveport, and a picturesque 200-acre island nestled in the Gulf of Mexico.

He is barely living paycheck to paycheck, even though he makes a mid six figure salary. No one can figure out where he spends all his money, but he somehow loses about $400k a year. He is disturbing bad with his money. He has nothing saved away for a rainy day... Or so he claims.

There are a few possibilities:
1) He is truly terrible with money, and possibly has a gambling or drug problem.
2) He is hiding his money in cash, and possibly a lot more money that he is not paying taxes on.
3) He is illegally leaving out his bank accounts.

Does New Speaker of the House Mike Johnson Have a Bank Account?

He claims that he does not have any bank accounts, or investment accounts worth over $1k, and has not for seven years now. That means if he has a major expense, or even just a mortgage payment of over $1k, he has no way of covering it. While that is not unusual for an American, once again, he is an American who makes over $400k. There is something very wrong with that.

a checking account

A checking account is a type of bank account. He claims he does not have one with over $1k in it. To put that into perspective, he gets more than $1k in his paycheck, so he is claiming he does not cash his paycheck in a bank account(including a check account).

Seriously, there is something very wrong with this. The story is he only pays cash for things, including his mortgage, and cashes his paycheck for cash.

Seems to me that's the sort we need more of in Dirty City, not fewer.

He would be fired from the FBI, or the CIA with a credit history like that. Having nothing in savings, and a terrible credit rating leaves him open to financial pressure. Either that or it is a scam to hide bribes. Either way, it makes him look super corrupt.

And Joe Biden isn't taking payola and bribes through a money laundering scheme...

All you do is lie.

I am wondering if the Big Story here is that the UniParty took a loss.

My brother wonders too, but at this point he does not trust anybody he does not know.
