Racism in reverse

Conservative

Repent, America!
I have this great idea that I want to share with you. It's called, "White History Month". It would honor only white people that made this country great, and fought for what was right and just. For instance, it would include George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Douglas MacArthur and Martin Luther King Jr. Wait, we can't include King, he's not white. Anyway, throughout this month, we would have posters around campus remind us of the contributions made by white people, we would have TV commercials on the subject, etc.

Sounds like a terrible idea, doesn't it?

Instead of that, we could have "Black History Month". It would honor only black people that helped make this country great, and fought for what was right and just. For instance, it would include Fredrick Douglass, George Washington Carver, Martin Luther King Jr., and Abraham Lincoln. Wait, we can't include Lincoln, he's not black. Anyway, throughout this month, we would have posters around campus remind us of the contributions made by black people, we would have TV commercials on the subject, etc. That's sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it? It too, sounds like a pretty terrible idea, doesn't it?

The reason both of those ideas are awful, is because they are racist. One definition of racism is the idea that "individuals should be treated differently according to their racial designation." Every February, we do exactly that. I'm not saying that we shouldn't honor these individuals, but we should honor the individual, not because of what color he or she happens to have.

We have Presidents Day, to honor all those presidents who worked tirelessly to make this country what it is today.

We have Martin Luther King Jr. Day, to remind us of the work he did, to rid us of a horrible injustice. Every time we celebrate Black History Month, we are doing the exact opposite of what he would have wanted.

We are setting aside a group of people, solely because of their race.

civil rights laws interfere with the competitive market. Such interference is often counterproductive because the market is the only mechanism that can accurately assign the costs of irrational discrimination to the discriminator. Consequently, the best approach toward these laws is to resist overly expansive, market-distorting interpretations while vigorously invoking them to challenge the main source of discriminatory influences--government itself.

White supremacist rhetoric, of course. The fact that African-Americans have been neglected, ignored and fucked over, is enough to warrant Black History Month. I hope I didn't stutter.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?! I couldn't understand you through all your racist rhetoric.

Translation: The 12% of the population feel that the contributions they have made to history, which are sizeable, aren't sizeable enough so they decided to dedicate an entire month to making sure that if you were black and did something, some child in a classroom, will be bored by your achievements.

Now, when do we get to Jewish History month? The jews have taken crap for longer than the Africans, and very rarely did the Jews sell eachother into slavery. Arab History Month? Aryan History month?(actually a name for a people between persia and china and up into the stans) Asian History month? I'll tell you the chinese who came over here took it hard. How bout Irish History Month? The irish had issues a plenty when they came over. East bloc Europeans? Polish History month? Russian History Month? I don't see any of those. Interesting.

So they aren't allowed to mention anybody who isn't white in those months, typical bullshit. You know why they teach white history in america and europe? Because most of the people in it's history adn in it's nation are white, naturally most of the events are going to look at the majority, apparently during those months of the year, we don't mention anybody who isn't white, so no asia, africa, south america, or middle east, nothing involving them or in any way alluding to them. Now since we never mention these groups why don't you go complain about asian history month? No? Latino History month? hmmm, I thought it was important to have these since the white man is still opressin you. Guess it's just about making sure nobody ever forgets the civil rights movement, at least the black portion of it, the native american and women roels can go hang.

I was expecting a thread about the black people of the world enslaving the white people of the world and taking all their shit because God commands it. Fucking let down.

Not at all. The contributions the 12 % of the population are quite often ignored, "glossed over", misrepresented or minimized, and so, to redress, somebody (with a brain and a clue) decided to dedicate a month to celebrate black people and their myriad accomplishments, and their place in the fabric of the quilt of the American experience.
The fact that not only were blacks denied their histories, their languages, their culture and their religious practices, they were stripped of their humanity and dignity as human beings. Whites "collectively" did this...so perhaps, we should have an "Atonement Month" or a "Absolution Month", to remind whites of what they did, and sorry they should be.

Ah, if you only could make sense...you'd be dangerous. Coherency is lacking, along with respect for proper nouns. It's a cinch, someone is a grade school dropout. So high school could have only have been a fantasy. LOL.

Yes because all of the whites alive today were totally around for the civil war and the trading of african slaves. Sure.

Racism everywhere and ONLY AGAINST BLACKS.

Of course not. But a large portion of them, might as well have been, for the way they think and act. You, for instance. Whites, back then, didn't think that Africans were completely human. Many, here and now, support that view. Racism is, indeed, most everywhere. And aimed at people of color. Where is the evidence of substantial and concrete manifestation of black on white racism, Hispanic on white racism or Asian on white racism? Practically, "non-existent". Know why? Because whites are in the majority and maintain the power and the control. But all that is changing...hence, the backlash and the gnashing of teeth. Whatever will you do? Go "postal"? LOL
