IT killed my father a year and a half ago. It was a very bad way to die, but he was brave.

My dad got 10 months, Swayze got a lot more. Without government based insurance, medicare, my Dad would have had three or four weeks.. and a lot more pain.
I am sorry for your loss, too!

ITs one of my favorate movies, I watched it the other day. Interesting how Swayze and his group called themselves "insurgents" while the Russians called them "Terrorists"!

You do realize that it was just a movie and therefore was written to be controversial.

My father had not smoked for over 20 years when he was diagnosed.

I have lost a few people to cancer caused by smoking. My grandmother had not smoked for over 30years when she got cancer from her smoking history. Its probably different for everyone but I think there is limit to how much smoking can be done before you seal you fate even if you quit. My guess is 10years of a pack of day and your probably fucked later in life.

You are right but practically speaking that's a low percent of people. I have a great uncle who smoked 2packs a day his whole life and lived till 89years old before he died from cancer. Unfortunately both his children are dead from cancer (they think second hand smoke) His son died at age 33 from lung cancer and he never smoked. His daughter also died from cancer generated from the lung in her 30's

Lung cancer in people who never smoked is usually very agressive and often quickly deadly, otherwise they would not have gotten the cancer.

was pretty fucked up. happened fast in both cases. I think it definitely had something to do with breathing in smoke there whole childhood.

LIkely, smoking is a bad thing, at least in excess, and if you do not do it in excess you find it discusting anyway. If I smoked a cig right now, Id be sick the rest of the day.

Nothing like a co-worker with a mix of cig and coffee dragon breath that you have to sit in a meeting with.

LOL in MA cigs cost like $7bucks now a pack with all the added tax.. what did Marlborough do? they now offer a $2 a pack discount on Marlborough mediums.. So when the tax went thru my friend went from lights to mediums to save a couple bucks. EVIL

At least now days, you dont have to sit next to a co-worker who is smoking.
