The Russian President has seen the tide turn against him in Russia as the population shows little interest in joining the army.

Vladimir Putin has been warned Russians have "no stomach for the fight" in the war with Ukraine, with a retired US Lieutenant General also destroying plans for another huge mobilisation of troops. Putin announced a mass-mobilisation of 300,000 troops in September. At the time it was feared the move could provide a massive boost to an army that had suffered several devastating blows in the war. But it turned out to be a humiliating disaster for Russia, with tens of thousands of people rushing for the borders.

Russia's military commanders are 'terrified' by Putin's demands for new offensive on multiple fronts in Ukraine and fear 'mass slaughter' and 'are giving up hope' of winning the war, experts claim

Kremlin has now lost a staggering total of more than 175,000 troops in the war. Putin's demand for further assault has caused deep divisions in high command.

'The Army General Staff is terrified by the instructions of the commander-in-chief [Putin]. I am not exaggerating. They are horrified.

'They are afraid to lose the remaining armed forces in the slaughter that they are being dragged into by [Putin's] order.'

Despite senior commanders giving up hope for their 'goal of winning' the war, they will obey Putin.

Dr Solovey said: 'Well, they saluted - "As you wish, Your Highness, you're the genius, you know it better than us, you started it all, and our job is to sort it out now".

Looks to me like it will come down to Western weapons and Ukraine's will to gain complete independence from Russia vs a Stalinist type strategy of sending wave after wave of bodies to overwhelm the Ukraines.
To even get those bodies he'll have to continue hiding the casualty numbers and be successful with his propaganda that the war is just.

Ukraine is using facial recognition and notifying their Russian families.

We are routinely lied to about Russia, even the most consequential things....surely you fuckers have figured this out.

And remember, stupid hurts.

Putin and his generals seemingly have more to overcome.
1. Mobilize a lot of bodies.
2. Mobilize more after those bodies are slaughtered, making further mobilization more difficult.
3. Be successful selling the war. I'd think it's already difficult since there is no threat to Russia.
4. More Russians that are slaughtered with no threat to Russia makes selling the war even more difficult.

It just doesn't have the look of a successful formula.

Ukraine have the problem of obtaining more weapons in a timely manner. The Ukraine soldier has higher motivation though. I wish NATO would make sure Ukraine had enough weapons when they need them. I don't mind the US giving weapons but I want Europe to do at least as much as we do.

Yes that is their disadvantage. But I don't see Russia making any huge gains anytime soon. That would buy the Ukrainians time.
And from what I've read the US is actually considering sending F-16's. Even France is considering sending aircraft.
