Maybe the US should move a carrier strike group into the Black Sea to show Putin how tough we are.

Houthis proved that for all the world to see. Last time the US tried to move a carrier into the Black Sea, Putin had someone call Lloyd Austin to made it clear what would happen to it. The US was forced to back down.
I have been seeing increasing concern about carriers being the way to go for 30 years, but our incompetent Generals still think they would be fighting WW2. Andrei Martyanov says that all the American Generals know about war is what they have seen in the movies.
We are locked into carriers now, and the F-35...which is dogshit.

Our Subs, which till recently were the best in the world, is the only part of the Navy that is extremely valuable in modern warfare. On any given day about 45% of them are not available for combat because of mechanical issues or staffing issues...add in training time and only something like 40% are available for combat.
And it is not like we have a ton of them to start with.
