BTW, this issue, along with the Border and Law and Order was why the Republican party (pre Trump) was on its way to becoming the dominant party and the Dems the party more of educated elites only.
It is also why Trump, supported by the Steven Miller types, made this desperate last chance push to instead turn America into a White Nationalist, fascist nation, instead.
The Republicans had a pretty clear and easy path to majority rule for decades to come as the parties were realigning. That was to open up to being a big tent party and embrace the PoC (latino and black) vote that was shifting to them.
But that would mean sharing power with them and not just using them for them for their vote. Talk of Tim Scott as next POTUS candidate etc.
