Poll: 48 percent want Trump impeached

Forty-eight percent of respondents said they would support Trump's impeachment, while 41 percent would oppose such charges.

Trump is facing a slew of controversies, including his firing last week of FBI Director James Comey and reports that he divulged highly classified intelligence to Russian officials.

The results align closely with Trump's current approval rating. The poll found 40 percent approve of the job the president is doing, and 54 percent disapprove.
Only 43 percent said Trump will end up serving his full four-year term in office. Slightly more — 45 percent — said his presidency won't make it that long.

Trump's young administration has been roiled by a series of controversies since the former real estate mogul took office in January. After firing Comey last week, the White House went on the defensive after several contradictions and inconsistencies in their accounts of the reasoning behind the ouster emerged.

Trump on Friday responded to the scrutiny on Twitter, writing that "it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy."

The poll found that more than three quarters of voters — 77 percent — expect the president's spokespeople to tell the truth at all times. By comparison, only 14 percent expect otherwise.

In his first months in the presidency, Trump has suffered from consistently low approval ratings, hovering in the high 30s and 40s. According to Gallup, Trump has the lowest approval of any new president since the surveys began in 1953.

Poll reveals shocking share of Americans want Trump impeached without evidence of wrongdoing

A new poll shows an increasing share of voters want President Donald Trump impeached, regardless of whether Trump has actually committed any high crimes or misdemeanors, which the Constitution requires in order to move forward with any impeachment proceedings.

According to the Politico/Morning Consult poll released Wednesday, 43 percent of voters want Congress to start the impeachment process, which is a 5-point increase from last week. A shocking 54 percent of those who want impeachment proceedings brought against Trump said they already believe he has shown he is unfit to serve as president and should be removed from office, without regard to whether he has actually committed any impeachable offenses.
