Proud to do my part... largest check ever!

Jarod, could you please remind Sam Adams to pay his Stamp Taxes? He's still delinquent on them, and after 245 years, we're worried we may never be able to collect. Thanks, that is all!

The govt could just confiscate some of his beer for the tax bill.

Sam Adams's issue was taxation without representation... Not merely taxation.

So what you are saying is that you had great success under Bush's leadership?

Yes luckily Bush promised to "Whack the trial lawyers" and we all know that he did not meet any of his promises. We did not get "whacked"!

and some people just need to learn the fricking hard way in life.

My two stepkids finally had jobs and paid taxes. I've been on them for 2 months about getting their W2s over to my house so I can walk them through filling out tax forms and mailing them off. They tell me yesterday at 7pm that their dad said, and I quote, 'don't worry about it. The government isn't going to chase you down to give you back your 5 dollar refund'. So they just didn't file.

Would the General Assembly or House of Burgesses, or any of the other bodies have EVER voted to pass the Stamp Act on their own accord? Well, seeing as how it got repealed and they didn't go ahead and enact it, I guess you have your answer there...

You should show them how to e-file. If they didn't make that much (usually less than 30k), there are numerous ways to e-file for free and not have to pay a dime to a tax preparer. Also, they can wire up a direct deposit and not have to worry about a check.

Well it depends. If they decided to let their employer withhold, then they'd be losing a significant amount of money. If they didn't withhold then they'd get no refund.

I figure if I'm doing it right then I should get a very small return or owe a small amount.
I like having to pay a bit every 15th. This is the first year in a while that I overshot it during the year, and it was because of the Hybrid credit.

im proud to say I paid Zero federal taxes out of my paycheck in 2008 and instead funneled that money into my ESOP plan that gives me 15% discount at a minimum on the stock price every six months.. Then sold the stock for my 30%+ profit and put the money in my HELOC to save on interest for a few months until taxes were due. Then I paid them.
