The book has been banned in 29 different schools according to Media sources. It is the 2nd most banned book in public High Schools across America, and rightfully so in my opinion.
And I understand why. It is not because of the describing what it is like to grow up Black and Queer, it is because this author crossed the line of decency by using EXPLICIT SEXUAL CONTENT unfit for High School age children, IN MY OPINION.
I agree with the parents on this one, and I would also challenge the school district's Board Of Education members who accepted this on the School Library shelf. It should be banned from High School shelves.
I would think though, that no one would be interested in reading this book, UNLESS THEY WERE ALREADY QUEER AND BLACK!
In fact, there were no records available on how many times the book was even checked out by a student. Quite possibly "0" times.
And I also read that only one other school in New Jersey has approved of this book to be on their shelves in all America.
So, out of 31 schools that had this book on their shelves, or were evaluating the book to determine if it should be on their shelves, 29 of them SAID NO! HELL NO! And 2 of them said YES! And that says that most Public schools do not approve of PORN to be on their shelves. THAT'S GREAT!
So this is not such a wide-spread problem as some would like for it to seem for political posturing!
I have no idea who is promoting this book to High School libraries, but it would not surprise me if it turned out to be some White EVANGELISTIC Supremacy group promoting this book to Public Schools for malevolent purposes to keep the POLITICS OF GRIEVANCE STIRRING!
I do not trust these WHITE EVANGELISTIC NATIONALISTS! They are some dirty players who are Hell Bent to stir up as much trouble and civil unrest as they can!
And I will give you another example of how they use deception. The pharmaceutical Industry has been airing commercials mostly exploiting Gays, LGBTQ's, Minorities, Mixed RACIAL Marriages, EVEN TWO BLACK MEN KISSING etc. in their commercials that run during the Prime Time hours just as the evening National news starts every day, 5 days a week. For every 5 minutes of news, there are 5 minutes of exploitation! This- just because the Democrats have been trying to pass a bill that allows Medicare to negotiate prescription drug costs that are costing Americans BILLIONS OF MORE DOLLARS THAN OTHER COUNTRIES that sell the very same drugs at 1/10th the cost! All at the same time the WHITE EVANGELICAL NATIONALIST REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS has been doing it's best to oppose it.
It is a win/win deal for them to stir up Racial Tensions and the emotions among the White Evangelistic Nationalists, and promote their over-priced drugs at the same time. They found a way to keep the POLITICS OF GRIEVANCE rolling like a machine.
They aren't fooling anyone.

I tend to agree on this point. What I object to is the idea that this book is representative of the books that are being banned, especially in Florida schools. Charlotte's Web is banned in at least one Kansas school district because 'animals can't talk and spiders can't weave words in their webs'.
