In a strange way, I almost feel sorry for rubes like this. And believe me, I have seen a lot of rightwing liars, posers, blusterers in my message board career.

To my mind, what is the point of lying on the interwebs or on cable TV to people you dont' know and will never meet?
How pathetic must one's life be, how low must their self-esteem have sunk, for them to fabricate fables of heroic deeds and imaginary fantasy lives?

I know. Men aren't the only ones who do this, either. I've had a stalker for a number of years, who is actually here on this board now. She tried to portray herself as having the fantasy life of a wealthy retiree, loving husband, accomplished kid, wonderful home in an affluent area, lots of charity work, constant parties with friends and activities and real life things. Instead she spent her entire day -- for years -- on a shopping network forum bitching at people she knew who have that stuff in reality. It is not only pathetic and sad, it's pathological. "Stolen valor" is the perfect phrase for these pitiful people.
