President Trump signs executive order reclassifying marijuana from a schedule 1 to a schedule 3 drug, relaxing regulations

Honest question,

Am I missing something with marijuana... Ive tried it like three times. It was okay, if I wanted to sleep or be unfocused for a few hours, but I never understood the hype.

Exactly.

I gave it up for three decades because my wife did not like it and because of her security clrearance.

My life would have been better had that not happened.

I don’t think it matters either way, it should simply be legal to grow or sell, like a potato.
Agreed but isn’t this a step in the right direction? I just don’t see the point in criticizing every single thing trump does even when it’s positive.

I wonder if it matters that I was brought up in a place and at a time where men were still expected to learn how to drive drunk without failing.

I am pretty surprised at how cheap flower is.

The edibles is a different story......but we have a Huuuge selection......a lot of it very tastee.

Some states are doing it themselves. like NY .
You can buy it in state licensed stores, are allowed to grow 3 plants per person in your home and on Indian Reservations they have hundreds of stores selling it.
And they have hundreds of different kinds, some make people " Happy" , some sleepy , some mellow, there are all kinds you can get.
I personally don't care for it and don't do any but know a lot of people that do.

How is it a step in any direction, other than to make kooks think he is doing something and to take the wind out of the sails of legalization efforts.

I used to respect your opinions even if I disagreed but this makes no sense.

Well, schedule 1 drugs cannot be used for any purpose, including studies.

The President cannot just remove drugs from the schedule either. The quickest and easiest path for that is Congress, start electing people you know would legalize it.

Schedule 2 Drugs cannot be automatically used for any purpose, other than studies.

I agree that allowing studies is helpful, but legalizing it would also allow studies. People have used Marijuana for centuries, it's akin to using Alcohol. While this is a baby step in the right direction, it is silly for him not to just call for pure legalization or unscheduling Marijuana.

Marijuana is a plant, not exactly a drug. THC is more specifically a drug.
