Power of impeachment rendered meaningless

Nope lol.

And it’s going to start costing them politically if they don’t stop. They’re already talking 14th amendment.
I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that in less than 1 week, the OCD coyotes in Congress will have yet ANOTHER plot against the Roadrunner. These people are psycho.

Democrats tried to charge Trump with inciting a riot that did him absolutely no good whatsoever. In fact, it totally subverted his goal for that day. What was his motive for inciting it?

In a scathing floor speech, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Saturday warned former President Donald Trump that he "didn't get away with anything" after the Senate acquitted him a second time following a historic impeachment trial.

"There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day," he said on the Senate floor. "The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president. And having that belief was a foreseeable consequence of the growing crescendo of false statements, conspiracy theories and reckless hyperbole which the defeated president kept shouting into the largest megaphone on planet Earth."

"These criminals were carrying his banners. Hanging his flags and screaming their loyalty to him. It was obvious that only President Trump could end this. Former aides publicly begged him to do so. Loyal allies frantically called the administration. The president did not act swiftly. He did not do his job... Instead according to public reports he watched television happily as the chaos unfolded, kept pressing his scheme to overturn the election."

"President Trump is still liable for everything he did while in office," he said. "He didn't get away with anything yet. We have a criminal justice system in this country. We have civil litigation."

Sounds like Mitch has had enough of him, too. What do you think?

As the prosecution so eloquently stated, if inciting and condoning an insurrection against our republic is not considered to be a high crime and misdemeanor - nothing is.

The GOP has made their choice. It's a bed they'll have to lie in for many years.

We're down to one viable American political party.

Its not eniugh to claim an accusation. You have to prove it.
Dems have failed badly at this.
Twice.

Even the Senate Republican leader is certain that Trump was responsible for the outrages of Jan 6. "There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day." See post #25.

McConnel voted not guilty on the impeachment charge because Trump is no longer in office, and for no other reason. And he warned that Trump is still open to criminal prosecurion.

Projection lol.

Democrats cheapened the impeachment process with their slip shod proceedings. What’s to stop a House republican majority from impeaching a Democrat President along strict party lines and/or knowing the votes for conviction don’t exist in the Senate?

Thanks to Democrats, nothing.

What’s to stop a Republican House from impeaching Obama for—whatever? Nothing, now that Democrats established the precedent.

You’re projecting.

The first thing one needs to carry out your laughably absurd scenarios are ACTUAL impeachable offenses, 61.

57-43. Most bipartisan trial vote of any. And many of those 43 did not vote on the evidence. They voted, improperly, on the process.

The evidence against him was overwhelming.

I think democrats have a shot at keeping their perfect record vs Trump lol.

Democrats are 0-2 [0-3 counting Mullet] on finding actual impeachable offenses lol.

Should they keep trying?
No, because Trump is not President, but Liz promises lots of investigation and Mitch and Trump’s own lawyers say he can now face the courts!

He will also have a special place in history as Impeached Dos!

Omg the courts lol!

What was Trump’s motive with inciting the riot? Motives are something that comes up in actual trials and no one I’ve asked seems to have an answer for it.

Why would Trump cut his own nose off to spite his face by disrupting the very proceeding he and his team spent weeks preparing for by turning the horned shaman loose on the Capitol?

Makes zero sense but give it a go.

Good grief his motive was to Stop the Vote. You really are dense.

Shows what you know lol.

Trump wanted the vote *delayed* to allow state legislatures to review their irregularities. He can’t ‘stop the vote’. How was that supposed to work? The EC had to vote at some point but Trump’s team wanted to weed out the illegal votes and just count legal votes.

IOW, Trump had nothing to gain and everything to lose by telling the rioters to storm the Capitol.

That WILL come up in a trial and the prosecution needs to be prepared to answer it.

Or else it can be a short proceeding.

LOL, hide and watch, they are going to expose his administration for the crooks they are. Liz Cheney is mad, there will be support to make sure he is so damaged he can’t run in 2024.

I won’t hide I’ll be fixing popcorn lol.

You’re a Cheney fan now huh? Isn’t a her dad a war criminal? Doesn’t Liz Cheney represent everything ‘what used to be’ bad about our government? One of these days the left is going to wake up and realize they are being played as stooges by the Uni-Party. And for their interests.

Or not.

I can state facts without being a fan. I have just repeated what Liz has said.

I can see you’re ready for the Patriot Party, maybe horned Shaman can be your mascot!
