I think that's a given, dude. The question is "who are they trying to intimidate?" Since all politics are local, I'd say state and local politicians but Trump is trying to make a local protest and, in some cases, riot, a national issue. Why? Because Trump is losing his ass, the COVID body count is staggering, the economy sucks, unemployment benefits are gone and Americans are starting to go hungry. All of this dissent will be directed at the man responsible - Donald "Stable Genius" Trump. Trump knows this so he wants to use military force to crack down on anyone who demonstrates against him before the election. RW protests are okay.

An election is always ultimately a referendum on the performance of the incumbent president. Carter lost the election by crashing some helicopters in the Iranian desert. Reagan trounced Mondale by simply asking Americans if they were better off than four years earlier.
