Trump could help himself by not getting baited into stupid controversies though. He's gotten better at it but he's not there yet.
I saw a good bit of the press conference he had with McConnell and I thought Trump was doing an excellent job of giving good answers and making the press corp look like 'a band of hungry jackals'---to borrow one pundits phrase. But then then he had to 'go there' with past presidents calling fallen soldiers families.
Predictably, that's all the media leftists wanted to talk about for days. All that does is give them a chance to deflect from other issues.
He needs to get better at it.
