poll: people dont know what the public option is

I don't think that is at all accurate. Poll support for a government backed insurance plan that people could choose instead of a private plan gets a lot of support. It's when people are asked about a "public option" that they really don't know what it means they are more evenly divided.

does the government know what this means? isn't there numerous versions of this bill? and isn't it true that the public option is not the same in all versions and has changed over time? i have not read the whole bill, a good portion....so i could be wrong.....

but it seems to me that the onus is on those who want to pass this bill to inform people.....it is stupid to criticize people for not knowing what something in your own bill means.....its your responsibility to inform them....that is like me writing a book and telling people their idiots because i did a lousy job of explaining myself

Right now there are two very similar bills and one bill that isn't done baking yet. There's the Senate HELP committee bill and HR 3200. Those two are not exactly alike but are very very similar. The Senate Finance Committee bill is the one that's still baking and it probably won't even have a public option. The public option in the HELP committee bill and HR 3200 may be different, but only in the details, not in the general thrust of what they do.

And yes, the onus is on the Democrats to inform people about what is in the bill. But when you have idiots like Sarah Palin talking about death panels and Socialized medicine and the press not calling lies lies it makes it difficult. And again, so as not to be misunderstood: IT IS THE DEMOCRATS' FAULT. They're framing and messaging sucks assholes.

That's one area where the Republicans are leaps and bounds ahead of the Democrats. Frank Luntz had the opposition strategy laid out for the Republicans a long long time ago and the Democrats still haven't figured it out yet.

Oh dear, one little lady is the fault of all the Democrats problems of not being able to get their message out...waaaa waaa

it damn sure couldn't be because they have no idea or care what is in the bill, just that they want it passed, and everything and everyone else be damned..
