Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson is starting to hurt Donald Trump’s campaign — and Republican leaders know it.

Johnson, a former Republican governor of New Mexico, is cutting into Trump’s potential pool of voters in a four-way race with Democrat Hillary Clinton and Green Party candidate Jill Stein, according to a new poll conducted Tuesday and Wednesday.

Pollster Richard Czuba said Johnson supporters fit into a profile of independent-minded, Republican-leaning male voters who attend church.

“Trump should be winning some of these guys, but they won’t go for Trump,” said Czuba.

About 16 percent of voters who attend church at least once a month support Johnson, according to the poll.

Ronna Romney McDaniel, chairwoman of the Michigan Republican Party, said she hopes Republicans “flirting” with voting for Johnson will think twice after he struggled to name a single foreign leader he admires during a Wednesday night interview on MSNBC.

Johnson called it an “Aleppo moment,” a reference to his Sept. 8 appearance on MSNBC in which he didn’t recognize the name of the war-torn city of Aleppo, Syria.

“I think it’s very clear he’s not fit to lead our country with national security being such a huge issue,” McDaniel said.

Ramona Paredes, a Democrat from Waterford, said she considered Johnson’s candidacy until seeing him fumble basic foreign policy question on television. Now she is sticking with Clinton.

“He couldn’t name any leader that he liked from a foreign country,” Paredes said. “Johnson doesn’t know much about anything.”

Attaching him? :rofl2:

It is true, unless you can prove the poll is invalid.

He's hilarious, as are all Libertarians.

Not saying it is invalid but...

How did other Michigan pollsters do? The Detroit News’ pollster Glengariff Group only had one poll included in the average – but it missed the mark by 5.8 points, in favor of Republicans. Glengariff is headed by Richard Czuba, former Engler Administration official.

The media have been attacking Johnson because he's a threat to Hillary. The media are Clinton staffers.

I would think Johnson pulls more from Trump, and Stein from Clinton. But it's probably moer about which demographic goes where

The vast majority who poll for Johnson simply won't bother to vote.
you think? Millennials do you mean?

I'm thinking of skipping this entire farce myself. I like some of Trumps ideas but his wackiness is really starting to get to me.

I'm done voting 3rd parties too for president. Nowhere left to go

Yes...mostly millenials. Johnson polls a couple of points ahead of Clinton with that demographic. They aren't going to bother to go out and vote for Johnson just to make a statement. They'll stay home.

They are Hillary's for the taking....if she can get them to listen. If you examine Johnson's positions, he doesn't do a thing for the youth in this country.

the wackiness does create a lot of "only nixon can go to china moments"

You have the whole gays getting cheered at the rnc thing and getting the nra to support the terror watchlist gun control thing.

except if you look at the RCP two-way and four-way averages it becomes obvious he's cutting into Hillary's votes a lot more than Trump's......
