POLL: 62% Of Americans Believe Confederate Statues Should Remain, Only 27% Disagree

As I have said before, I love sticking it to the south and I have no problem tearing down these statues, nor do I lose sleep over it. But I know it wont stop with robert e lee. Even now I am hearing they want to tear down teddy Roosevelt. Pretty soon it will be jefferson and washington. This isn't about people having done things that are no longer in accordance with our modern values. If that were the case they would also want to tear down Martin luther king jr. statues given he was against homosexuality and said they should see psychiatrists. What this is really about is erasing history and throwing it down the memory hole. The rabble want to hit the reset button and get a do-over with this country. The left can't stand that the most awesome country they live in was built in large part because of these great men (washington/jefferson etc).

I think it's about sticking it to the south.

But it doesn't surprise me we're starting to see some blowback.

“This is not about the Confederacy,” he continued. “This is not about the Civil War. This is about political power and it’s about a small group of people on the Left trying to exert outside influence on American politics by following in the footsteps of Mao, of the armed thugs in Weimar Republic, of the Taliban. These are tactics that are well-known. You start by tearing down statues, and burning books, and eventually you go after people.”

“This is what happens with identity politics,” he said. “If you push identity politics, eventually you get around to identity politics for white people, which is a dangerous thing in a country that has a huge white majority. You know, this is why the Left has been sowing these seeds of what’s been happening for a long time. Are they surprised eventually some white people are going to say, ‘Yeah, let’s do identity politics,’ and we have white identity politics. It’s all poisonous garbage.”

Yup.

The endgame of identity politics is tribalism.

A new poll from PBS has found the majority of Americans of all races believe statues honoring the leaders of the confederacy should remain and only a small minority believes they should be taken down.

One wonders why Threedee can't see that? Maybe virtue signaling for dear Rana is more important to him?

I guess Threedee doesn't mind being played by a former Occupy Wall Streeter/Obama supporter

What makes you think I haven't noticed calls against Washington, Jefferson, Jackson (they can have that fucktard), and Teddy?

Hmmmmm....a house that was built by slaves, vs. a statue of a guy who fought ardently to preserve slavery.

Yeah - that's really apples to apples. Smart.

Other then you being a smartass, what don't you agree with?

Michelle Obama is the one who said it was built by slaves and is a reminder of slavery.

History is replete with great, yet flawed men.

Sound like someone we know lol?

Eactly what was discussed on NPR's Morning Edition today.

'The Once And Future Liberal' Looks At Shortfalls Of American Liberalism

Last November, Columbia University historian Mark Lilla wrote a post mortem of the 2016 election for The New York Times. Writing as a liberal, professor Lilla criticized his fellow liberals and Democrats for leading their party into the self-defeating politics of identity liberalism. http://www.npr.org/2017/08/15/54373...al-looks-at-shortfalls-of-american-liberalism
