I personally don't believe that political battles are decided militarily, except, perhaps, the right of succession in a monarchy. You certainly can't decide anything via armed conflict in a constitutional republic. Either the correct side wins or loses, but, the constitutionally correct argument remains separate.
You weren't paying attention, this has been going on for some time, it has just intensified.

But there is NO revisionism.
Removing a few statues from the public square and moving them to an appropriate civil war memorial would be more akin to CONCENTRATING our history to a single, easily accessible location.
And if people want to study the civil war in depth, there are still THOUSANDS of PUBLIC LIBRARIES in virtually every city in this nation, that contain entire SECTIONS devoted to the civil war.

Except we aren't going to "take them all down", that's just another example of ridiculous, overblown Trumpkin hyperbole, therefore history won't be destroyed as hand wringing Trumpkins claim.
People have always destroyed or vandalised statues, surely? How many over here have noses? Precious few! Like taking over huge areas of churches to show off your family power, they are asking for it, and I've always been baffled as to what anyone ever gets out of the silly things.

Since the violent white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia that left one dead, Confederate statues have been defaced and knocked down by "anti-fascist" rioters. Lately the vandalizing has spread to statues of Christopher Columbus and Abraham Lincoln. Some are even calling for statues and parks honoring George Washington to be taken down and renamed.
