As President Donald Trump mulls declaring a national emergency over border security, a new Morning Consult/Politico survey shows a lion’s share of voters agree with him that the United States is facing a crisis over illegal immigration.

According to the poll, conducted Jan. 4-6 among 1,989 registered voters, a 42-percent plurality think there is an illegal immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, which Trump has argued as he’s tried to leverage a partial government shutdown to secure congressional funding for his proposed southern border wall. Another 37 percent of voters said there’s a problem but not a crisis, and 12 percent said there’s neither a problem nor a crisis.

42% isn't anywhere close to a majority, or haven't you noticed?

Doesn’t really say much. Conservatives see it as a crisis for obvious reasons and liberals might call it a crisis as well for when we rightfully arrest criminal parents and detain their dumb kids.

When you add the ‘crisis’ with the ‘problem’ you get 80% of voters who think the border is a significant issue.

Democrats would do well to pay attention to those kind of numbers.

Exactly, how was the question worded, because it means different things to different people.

It’s a stupid poll.

That was my first thought.

I disagree with the wording of your predicates here...but agree totally with the conclusion.

Wow ... it's such a CRISIS ... that he's not Paying the people to work the border ...

Just face it, YOU fell for his Bull Shit and now he's wants the Tax payers to fulfill his Campaign Promises.

Anyone that doesn't think there is a crisis at our Southern border should talk to the parents of kids murdered by illegals overstaying their visit, or crossing illegally,

or a family member of a drug addict

grow up liberals, your own heroes said it was a crisis just years ago, now it's not?

There’s a sizable flotilla of reasons to build a wall. Though theoretically, the problem can be addressed with better laws and enforcement but congress can’t be trusted to do that. They’ve proven it time and again.

So build the damn wall.
