Pledge Of Allegiance

"Pledging allegiance" is actually a bit more strong than "Hailing to".

That wasn't what I asked you?
Oh - and your post said to the United States, whereas the Pledge is to the flag; therefore, I ask again:
Where do we use "Hail to the United States"?

Where it says... "Under God".

Under God indicates Gods position visa vie the government. Above it.

"One nation under God" does not refer to our government. It refers to our people. For example, fans of certain sports teams will be referred to as Team Nation.

Wow, the Conservatives are so inconsistent. . .

If the fed tries to take your cattle off their land.... its okay to shoot them.

If a school kids refuses to pledge allegiance to the Federal Government he's breaking the law and should be bullied.

No one pledges allegience to the federal government when they recite the Pledge. The closest you can get to that is the words "and to the republic," because that is our form of government. It's still not the same thing as pledging allegience to the federal government. And who would ever do that except federal agents and miliary servicemembers, anyway?

The Flag is not the symbol of the Government of the United States of America?

Oh lookie!

Another Rightie got his low information ass cornered and now wants to play petty word parsing games!

I pledge alegence to the Flag of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND TO THE REPUBLIC.

I already knew they weren't the same, so I'm not sure how this supports your original comment. :dunno:

I like how the first thing liberals think of when they think of America is the government and a bunch of agents. When normal Americans think about this country, it's more along the lines of sports, apple pie, pizza, beer, the great outdoors, offroading, BBQ, rock (or country for lesser Americans), and the NYSE.
