I heard him on NPR and liked what I heard until he got to taxes. Do people really think it would be so simple to dump the IRS and go with a single consumption tax?

no need to buy into everything..but maybe a consumption tax is better then the monster we have now
where tax policy becomes an artificial measurement for business decisions, instead of straight forward growth/competition?
How about getting rid of the IRS or paying taxes on a postcard ( sliding scale fixed rates /little or no deduction
It's something to consider at least, instead of the beast that owns our lives come tax time

The IRS is charged with issuing and defining the Treasury Regulations and Revenue Rulings, those are the regulations and procedures that are four times as long as the tax code itself.
Where do you propose the money to fund government come from, and who would enforce collections on rich tax cheats if the IRS was abolished?

I don't want to abolish the IRS, that's Gary. And I don't agree with his position re: a fair tax.
I would like to know what made the tax code increase so much since the mid-80s.
