'Please don't kill me': Cop cleared of murder after shooting dead a sobbing father

see, this is a problem that most people can't seem to grasp or comprehend. People tend to look at police officers as simply human beings doing a tough job, but that is not what they are. when they don that badge and uniform, they are the violent representatives of the government they work for and are no longer 'humans' in the respect that they are not held accountable for their actions, but indemnified by numerous government qualifications for release of responsibility. the sooner people look at them that way, the better off we'll be for fixing a broken system.

I know you have strong opinions on the police. Leaving aside what we say here does nothing in the real world I would like to see the police, like any government agency, do their jobs better.

which will never happen. government is the only entity that profits from failure

Look man, I haven't seen them today, and I'm not going to disturb their weekend with this bullshit. They are good cops, and it doesn't take an Einstein to see this guy was an asshole. There's no reason to behave in such an irresponsible manner, exacerbating an already tense situation. I'll ask them when I see them. I'm not sure why you feel the need to be so snarky. I support law enforcement, and I am allowed to have an opinion.

Cool story, granpa.

Is that what I said or are you projecting your own feelings of inadequacy!!

This is what happens when professionals go to court with jury's filled with the uneducated.

Trial by a jury of peers. Civilians are not the peers of sworn officers. But at the same time filling the jury with other LEO'S invites even more corruption into this system.

Had I been on that jury I'd of convinced each member of the jury that be was guilty during deliberations.

No, you would not have "convinced" each member of anything. I was a jury foreman on a Federal court case involving "sworn officers" (who withheld evidence in a high profile murder trial) and we had one juror who tried to "convince" everyone his "opinion" was unconditional. I told him his opinion would be discussed with the same merit the other 11 members would. Those deliberations lasted over a week until we finally agreed upon a verdict. Interestingly enough, it was he who "modified" his opinion after much discussion for us to reach a unanimous decision.

That said, this officer fired 5 rounds at a man crawling on the floor with his weapon (and other officer's weapons) trained on him. The officer had enough time to make a decision to fire, even if that individual did pull a weapon from behind his back. He definitely overreacted in this situation.

Not sure if serious but it has nothing to do with the jury being uneducated when the laws are set up a certain way
