pit bull saves man from shark

Happy National Dog Day;)
To all the (many) dog lovers/advocates who post here;)

I'm not a dog person.
Are you a woman person? Donate to the shelter in her honor;)
"Did you know...

August 26th is also Women's Equality Day!

Coincidentally, National Dog Day was founded by a woman (Colleen Paige) in 2004. The date is very special, as August 26th is when her father adopted their first family dog. Interestingly enough, there was nothing about Women's Equality Day found on the internet in 2004, which makes these two special initiatives, come together years later to create one of the greatest in days in history. Both are relevant, necessary, vital and have both reached a robust level of popularity, trending side by side, worldwide on Twitter and Google. This is just one of many examples of how women can succeed at anything they choose. Women and dogs clearly make the world a better place! "

You would think that someone in her 60s wouldn't be this rotten, but you'd be wrong. And in Ohio, no less. Here are some crumbs for the attention whore. lol

AKRON, Ohio - A 64-year-old woman faced aggravated robbery and vicious dog charges, accused of releasing pit bulls to attack a grocery store manager while he was questioning a suspected shoplifting.

Linda S. Snow of Norton was arrested at her Hametown Road home early Tuesday.

Her dog, a black pit bull with white accents, was impounded by Summit County humane officers.

Police say Snow was accused of leaving an East Avenue Acme store, along with an accomplice, without paying for groceries.

Suspects in Akron grocery theft used pit bulls in escape

The attack happened when the manager went out to investigate.

"A staff member goes out to inquire if they had a receipt and as he's walking out and approaching them the owner of the vehicle opens the door, releases two dogs and attacks the employee; then, they get in the van and drive away with the groceries and the animals," said Akron Police Captain Dave Laughlin.

Police say the manager suffered severe injuries and told them he believes the dogs were following commands from their owners.

"As he was being attacked he could hear the woman give the dogs a command to release and they did and then retreated back to her, so it sounds like it was a trained dog to respond on command," said Laughlin.

On Tuesday, Norton police released documents to FOX 8 News that show they had responded on at least two previous occasions to Snow's address because of complaints that her dogs had attacked other people.

A neighbor told police she was at her mailbox when a pit bull raced across the street at her, biting her on her forearm and on her hip.

According to the complaint, the neighbor did not want police to take any action, fearing retaliation.

A second complaint was filed after a jogger told police she was attacked by a dog fitting the exact same description of the one impounded on Tuesday while passing Snow's residence.

She told police she was bitten and scratched multiple times by the dog until the homeowner ran out and grabbed the dog.

Snow was issued a summons for 'dog running at large.'

Police say after her arrest on Tuesday she made statements admitting to the incident outside of the Akron Acme store.

"After Ms Snow was taken into custody, she was brought to the Akron Police Department for questioning and under her Miranda rights she did confess to the crimes," said Laughlin.

Police on Tuesday were seeking warrants for the arrest of her alleged accomplice, believed to be a relative, and the second dog believed to have been used in the attack was also expected to be impounded.

“I was shocked,” Kelsey Matlock told WXPI, a friend of the family. “I was so shocked, I, I don’t even know how to explain it. It just wasn’t, the dog just attacked. He went into a seizure, it was dark in the room, and the dog got frightened,” she said. Police said they do not yet know what triggered the dog, Petey [a pet pit bull of 10 years], to start attacking Utterback. – WXPI

Lake Placid, FL – Shortly before noon on the Fourth of July, a man was found dead in a wooded area behind a home in the southeastern portion of Highway Park. The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 45-year old Melvin Olds Jr. “The investigation has revealed injuries indicative of an animal attack,” states the release from the sheriff’s office. The medical examiner responded to the scene and could find “no other injuries other than those inflicted by the animals.” – DogsBite.org

There were no other wounds found on his body other than the more than 100 dog bites, according to the sheriff’s office. Olds’ fiance, Jannell Ward, has seen a pack of dogs hanging out in their neighborhood. “They growled a couple times but they never ran up to me. They never came at me or insinuated that they were going to bite me. I never got that feeling,” she said. The sheriff’s office laid traps in the area and picked up six stray dogs, all pit bull mixes. – WFLA

Kentucky State Police have arrested a 29-year-old connected to the death of a Kentucky man believed to have died from an attack by pit bulls.

Brian S. Butler was found dead on June 29 after a passerby found his body on McCoy Lane and called 911. An investigation was launched and cause of death was determined to be sharp force trauma from a dog attack.

Two pit bulls were later located in the area and quarantined by Marshall County Animal Control. A third pit bull was also found an quarantined.

Following an investigation, KSP has now arrested 29-year-old Daniel Kai Alexander of Gilbertsville for tampering with evidence, duty of a person, and finding or possessing a dead body. According to KSP, Alexander had knowledge of Butler's body being on McCoy Lane but never contacted police.

Alexander is the owner of the three dogs and investigators believe he tampered with physical evidence at the scene of Butler's death. Although the dogs are quarantined, KSP is calling on residents to be cautious of roaming dogs in the area.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call KSP at 270-856-3721 or anonymously at 1-800-222-5555.

Pit bulls are JUST DOGS

there are a shit load around

lets go get the information on that part of the Issue

In shelters, yes. Why is that, I wonder? As far as which dog types are the most common/popular, that award goes to labs. ( https://www.businessinsider.com/100-most-popular-dog-breeds-united-states-2018-9)

Apparently, since allegedly the pit bull attacks are all the fault of their owners, they have a disproportionate number of shitty owners compared to all other breeds. Very weird. </sarcasm>
