This is starting to look like an investigation into a security leak and possible computer hacking when they learned of this affair as well...it's a little sketchy but there is information that the book author has ambitions and they both have ego's the size of Africa...

Petraeus-gate: It's Not About the Affair, But Leaking of the Highest Order+*

The bombshell resignation yesterday of David Petraeus--director of the CIA, one of the most decorated four-star generals, and one of our country's most prominent military strategists--is making headlines due to his affair (the reason he gave for his resignation) with his biographer, Paula Broadwell.

But the real story is the FBI investigation that ensnared the two. The FBI does not investigate extramarital affairs, and the President does not normally express his disappointment over such things. The FBI investigation into a "potential criminal matter"--specifically, whether a computer Petraeus used had been compromised and other security concerns--lies at the heart of what is so insidious about this situation.

I represent a number of whistleblowers, including Thomas Drake and John Kiriakou, who have faced decades in jail under the Espionage Act for "leaking" supposedly-classified information. (Petraeus just praised Kiriakou's conviction because "secrecy oaths matter.") Now we have the CIA director apparently leaking classified information of the highest order to his biographer and mistress, who does not have a security clearance.

I have no intention of reading this thread, but having gone through - to use a cliche - the Jimmy Savile feeding frenzy and the stupidity of a British MP who decided to go on a TV reality show instead of doing the job she was paid for I and, I am convinced, millions of other people are sick to death of the press being filled with people who either cant keep it in their pants or who never deserved to be anything more than a street sleeper. Petraeus bollocks. Sack him or keep him but keep it our of the media. You have a new president, Greece is in turmoil, Osborne is screwing the UK, China has a new president, there was an earthquake in Myanmar. you know what you do with people you dont like so leave him alone or put a bullet through his head. You are correct...it's just the latest diversion. There are real issues to pay attention to and it's so all over everything that I can't help but run across it.

Andrew Neil was interviewing Ed Balls the other day and finally got the devious bastard to admit that there was a structural deficit of £73 billion in 2007 before the financial crisis first hit.

Like bush. You cant keep blaming the opposition for ever. Osborne has had his opportunities. Cameron has had advice. Of course none of it came from the hallowed halls of Eton so it will all have been ignored.

I must contact a friend who has one son teaching at the place and the other in the same year or pretty close to Ravin' Dave.

No passion? How do you know there is NO passion between them now? We really don't know. I would suspect that like most people together for that long, they don't have sex very often - maybe a couple of times a month. Hey Cawacko did you know that when a man has a heart attack his cardiologist warns him not to have sex with any woman other than his wife? Do you know why that is? Because when he makes love to a woman other than his wife his excitement levels are measurably higher. this is not a condition to be encouraged in heart disease patients. This is fact.

What I am saying is that even if they were both fabulous looking (and just how fabulous looking are you supposed to be once you hit 60 btw? how many 60 year olds do you see and say to yourself "man would I love a piece of that?), the sex become mundane and attractions to others develop. Now, some people never follow up on them, but why not? How much of that is due to lack of opportunity?

My own personal opinion is that human beings were not meant for long term monogamy, not once we began living beyond 32. Serial monogamy is preferable. But that's just my opinion.
 
I have a friend from another political site, and he lives in Italy. He always writes me and asks about these sex scandals. He has trouble understanding why it matters so much.

I have no idea if their marriage has/had passion or not. I thought that was the point your were trying to make by saying no matter how good they may look they may be that after 40 yeras of marriage the passion would be gone.

I believe you said it was disgusting to post pictures of wife and the mistress. I wouldn't call it disgusting. It can definitely be refered to as superficial but then why do so many older men get divorced and then remarry younger better looking "trophy wives"? (But yes you are right in your '60's you're not going to look like you did in your 20's or 30's.)

I also understand that when people cheat it can be an emotional thing just as much as they think the other person looks 'hot'.

Again I have no clue here but I'm going to guess that Patreus with his position and power probably has had lots of opportunities to stray.

It wouldn't matter. Why do you think Hollywood couples get divorced and there was someone else? They're all hot, but guess what, it doesn't matter. But in Holly Patraeus' case all of those things are going to contribute to her public humiliation in the days to come. And putting up a picture of her husband's decades-younger side piece with a "who wouldn't" laugh, contributes to that.
