There's no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study that is bound to stir public controversy.

The research finds that children with low intelligence are more likely to hold prejudiced attitudes as adults. These findings point to a vicious cycle, according to lead researcher Gordon Hodson, a psychologist at Brock University in Ontario. Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice, Hodson wrote in an email to LiveScience.

Pvt. Joe Bauers: You know, there was a time in this country when smart people were considered cool... well maybe not cool, but they did things like build ships and pyramids and they even went to the moon. Idiocracy, the Movie

WOW!

I guess this is proof I'm not a racist.

Anyhow, this is old news. We've posted several links over the years proving bigotry, homophobia, and prejudice are all linked to ignorance and stupidity.

Yeah it's an old story and the results have been repeated numerous times. I am just getting tired of all the racist spam.

Sounds good to me. Can we start with you whiz kid?

But it's not mental retardation like it is Homos, and liberals.

Don't worry about him, throwing around words like prove. Its misinformation through which they infect others with misguided causes.

There is a predisposition to prejudice in less intelligent individuals, yes.

But I don't think Howey appreciates that; intelligent though he may be, he's quite quick to insert foot in mouth.

While I'm here I suppose I should point out that because our thought processes are based on yes/no categories, and we as humans categorize we thus discriminate it is present in all of us to a degree. The picture some seem willing to paint is that ONLY ignorant/stupid people are biased/raciest/discriminatory, that knowledge will save them, and that by proxy most conservatives are biased. I firmly believe most aren't, in fact.

For example I don't think I am racist, and I don't know anyone who has called me so to my face. At least not *outside an informal debate in an unmoderated environment*

Oh yeah, it was probably my post that SEEMED to paint conservatives as stupid racist and not the dozens of daily posts from conservatives highlighting/overstating black on white crime and attempting to validate irrational fear of blacks.

The left does the same highlighting. If the left wanted equality they would stop highlighting the races, even giving favorable treatment to them. Such actions only serve to increase the tensions.

2 way street, fella.

Favorable treatment, meaning laws that discourage discrimination? Those kinds of favorable treatment?

Your thought process might be based on yes or no, mine go a little deeper, but thanks for the help in communicating with you.
