Secretary of Drunkfense Pete Hegseth has declared that, effective immediately, Department of Defense components and departments will not use official resources for any "identity months".

This includes Black History, Women's History Months.

"Installations, units, and offices are encouraged to celebrate the valor and success of military heroes of all races, genders, and backgrounds as we restore our warrior culture and ethos."

We are having trouble finding people willing to sign up. The normal response is to look for under utilized communities. Hegseth's response is to become exclusionary. If the Defense Department is having trouble surviving being understaffed, the solution is to make them even more understaffed, or something like that.

Nothing new.
Why would someone want to obey some fuck who couldn’t hold a regular job when they could be an Amazon driver or uber eats worker on their own hours and no boss?

Why make $24k a year in the US Army, when you can make $70k working at an Amazon warehouse. You get room and board in the Army, but you are stuck with their room and board.

And everyone remembers that expected service was extended during the Iraq War. They promise you two years active, and you end up eight years active... A lot of people are worried that might happen again. There are people who have spent five years in combat, which has not really happened before. The entire US involvement in WWII only lasted less than four years, and no one was in combat for all four of those years.

I am not saying the combat was harder than any before, it just was more time than has been asked before.

You appear to know a great deal about the military, Walter.

Did you serve?

You are wrong about "you are stuck with their room and board."

I drew a "separate quarters" allowance (BAH) to pay for separate quarters and a food allowance.

Warfare is being automated, Salty Walty.
